50 gallon SPS tank

Looking really good! Met you at the store back in April or so, I was the one looking at the KZ skimmers and you introduced me to Cornel.

I'm about to do the same to my 220. I had a 5" DSB prior to switching to Zeovit and I'm getting all kinds of strange algae with no detectable nutrients whatsoever. I'm going to pull everything out, nuke the rocks, and replace the sand bed with with 1" of reef flakes.

Colors looking really good though. For a minute I thought you were putting all that LAX stock in your 50!

Brief update. I have been slowly removing my coarse gravel, it is a nutrient trap and seems to be making bubble algae go berserk on my rocks. I siphoned all but a thin layer, I may take it all out completely and run bare bottom.

Tank is looking brilliant buddy! :thumbsup: Love the result you are having so far. How are the angels behaving in the tank? Do the flame angels bite the SPS?

Their terrible :hmm5: very hard on my corals, PE is affected but I love them too much to get rid of them.

OK, cool. For some reason I always get pretty crazy PE on the SPS corals in my tank hence I dont care too much...I want to get one of the dwarf angels SO badly!

Colors doing better, bubble algae slowly going away thanks to a foxface and about 10 emerald crabs. Just dosing start, bak, and sponge power to see if I can help the colors bounce back.

Tank looks good to me, you've got some large pieces that are obviously getting larger.

One of these two? The one on the left is a Reefarmers Becker Tort and the one on the right is a Formosa

Nope, it was from an LAX importer. Wild collected. Why do you ask?

I've been looking for a blue equivalent to my slimer. I may have found one in a blue staghorn type coral sold by salty underground but it's too young to judge size and growth rate.

I think I read on the previous page that you added 10 Emerald Crabs??? If so, be careful...I use the smaller females to get rid of bubble algae, but with so many in the tank, once the bubbles run out, they may start to eat some of your corals.

I'll put a little interceptor in there and kill them all if they go rogue on me :lol:

I threw in a lot because my radiant wrasse likes to chomp on them. Plus I really want those bubbles gone

The WILL start to eat your corals. They're already doing so but just not enough for you to notice. They're not vegetarians.

I'm aware of what they can do. I do have a lot of bubbles for them to work on. Once they do their job I will slowly remove them as I can catch them (or at least try to take them out and rip their claws off :uzi

My radiant wrasse i'm sure will take some out and the male emeralds might kill each other too.

I put a foxface in the tank and he's munching on the algae too.
