500 Gallon SPS Reef System

Thanks Tobes makes much more sense,I hope it works will save allot of time and cost not having to mix salt and RO/DI water. Keep up the good work. Mike

Update

Have added only a few fishes ;) and have started using some KZ additives to get the acro colours up. I'm finally happy with the rockscape and have added some fresher rock to help seed the tank. The pump from the storage tank comes in 15 mins a day throttled back to bring in about 5% of the system volume. We've also put some sound proofing around the front panel which really helps but can still hear the Vortechs...

Tobes very nice fish selection and corals really like the trigger. Tobes you have put in allot of work in your planning and set up,bought some very good equipment and it is coming together really well, please don't set your self back by stocking the tank too quickly with fish. Best wishes for the Christmas season. Mike

G'day tobes. Great looking tank mate and awesome to see yet another Aussie reefer here!

When you installed the tank and reno'd the surrounding room, was that part of a full house reno, or just in that area? First few pics seemed that the house (or the area around the tank, at least) was quite old and a little worn down, it'd be great to see/read what other improvements you made.

What do you plan for the rather conspicuous standpipes in the background? Are you happy to have them visible, or will you make some sort of cover? They kinda stand out like the dogs proverbials...maybe you could paint them black? EDIT: Scratch that...I just noticed in that last set that they are no longer visible...my bad o_O

Also, I am curious where you sourced your GBR l/r from, all the way down there? Is that thru Aussie Aquarium Corals, or someone like Cairns Marine?

Top job, thread is now bookmarked!! :)

Skimmer break in

Just to let you know, I have a Lifereef VS3-72" model skimmer and in the picture it seems you do not have enough pressure powering your Mazzei injector. The skimmer column should be saturated with milky white bubbles in order for your skimmer to work at optimum effeciency.
