PPE's look dull compared to the 'purple death' palys. never did see the big deal with them

I'd eventually like to get some because they are BIG compared to other plays, and they got that funky round shape. Other than that, eh.

Still playing with pictures....

Well I woulde definatly say that Sanjay is getting his photo skills to the point where it can be compared with some of top professional photographers.

Now may I ask what type of coral the second one in this last set is? the one with the long green polyp extantions?

Dennis

That is the green polyp leather. Really striking looking coral, compared to the other green leather coral from ORA that is pictured right below it.

that yellow-ish one in the background of the last pic... looks like a frag i acquired with the brand name "e-coral unknown".... just wonder if yours donned a similar moniker... as mine grows it gets more and more blue highlights (grows slow)

great pics Sanjay! ...but how is anyone supposed to trade with you if you have every coral known to man ;-) ?

Hi Sanjay, I just came across this thread -- can't beleive I never saw it before! I usually wait until i've read an entire thread before I post -- kinda like a right of passage :) But when I saw this I had to write in. Your tank up at PSU is something that inspired me in the hobby back when I was dating my wife while she was getting her graduate degree at PSU. Its great to see that you've documented your setup online here and Im looking forward to reading the entire thing and posting comments!

Hi Sanjay,
Thanks for the hospitality yesterday. I enjoyed spending the day with you. Thank your wife again for me too. I look forward to seeing you both again in March. I will call you in a week or two when I get home. I will be re-aquascaping the left side of the tank and if there is anything you saw that you would like a piece of, I will snap it off then. The large green one you talked about would be one I will knock a chunk off for you.
Thanks again.
Steve

Steve:

It was good to see you here. Put up some pics of your tank and I'll let you know what I want :-)

See you in a month.

Well, I just finished reading the entire thing! Besides my wife giving me strange looks b/c I've had this thing out since yesterday, I beleive I finshed in exactly 24 hours since my original post yesterday!!

Well, I was keeping a list of questions for you but they've all been answered. So I'll just say - an amazing job Sanjay. Looks great!!

I do have a question about T5 lighting but I dont want to post here and go OT.

500G of tank and my stupid fish can't get along. !! The dispar anthias got into it again and must have had a massive fight, one of them is so beat up it can barely swim. Looks like it will be down to 2 now.

Even the 2 leopard wrasses are squabbling. The bigger ones chases the smaller one. Never knew these fish could swim so fast.

Either I have too few fish that they can easily find the others, or I just have mean fish.

sanjay.

Wow, that's some bad luck sanjay...i had 7 lyretails live in harmony for ~6months in my old 210g before i had to take it down. You are getting some mean dispars.

How many total fish do you have currently in that beautiful monster?

Makes me wonder if they 'stick together' for strength in numbers in a smaller tank and feel free to act out in such a big tank? I know that doesn't make sense but either does them all fighting.

that is indeed a bummer Sanjay. it does happen, especially during the honeymoon phase. I just had to pull out a chromis that had been in my tank for nearly a year. It had been ostracized multpile times but always worked its way back into the school. This time it got pretty beat up and I moved it to QT.

On the other hand, I had a yellow tang get harrassed mercilessly by another yellow and a purple. They had it boxed into a hole and wouldn't let it out. That yellow really looked skinny and I had figured it would die of starvation. Then I didn't see it for more than a week and assumed it died or was eaten by the PLTA. Then one day, it grew nads and started going after food. I guess it just decided it was tired of starving. Within one week it was back with the pack like nothing ever happened. Very strange.
