510 gallon reef build

I think it's actually good that I drilled it because it forces me to take a little break from all the hard work and stuff. Right now I just have a little seahorse tank and a frag tank holding all my coral so it's just basically weekly water changes with a smaller amount. The 125 will be put into use hopefully soon but the design of this whole project is going to be different. Instead of in my room we are looking for a house with a nice sized basement that way I could make an aquarium room where you just walk in and have the huge tank there and like a couch and stuff.
my thoughts exactly,It ok tho have ambition, too bad you drilled that 125, you could have set that up.

Still waiting to move. It's kind of a definite decision for the tank either way just 2 different variable. Either we move and I get the tank there or if my parents don't find anything they like then I stick to the original plan. Hopefully I will know by the end of summer/early fall.
wassup AJ

Well it looks like the project is not going to be as planned. I just put a deposit down on a 450 gallon and I'm going to be picking it up next week. The 510 would've looked nice but it's just a lot of money and work for a bedroom. The 450 will be going in my basement where my old tank was and my bedroom will just stay the way it used to be.

450s doing pretty good. It's had it's good days and bad but overall I am happy with it. No pics on me now, I will upload some maybe tomorrow but let me explain a few important things that happened in the tank.

My most recent problem a sudden algae break out, out of no ware. Everything was great and all of the sudden within a week algae started growing everyware. I'm guessing it was a bad batch of salt because My ro/di water still is 0tds and nothing has changed in the past 3 or 4 months. Coral is still doing great coloration and SPS polyp extension is really nice.

My problem that has been going on since the beginning of summer is the killer chromis I have in the tank. When I started the tank I thought a school of chromis would be nice. Turns out they ganged up on all my fish and killed them. Just attack all day until the fish die. I got 5 out and I have 3 left that I can't catch no matter what I do so I tried putting in some fish to see if they cooled down a bit and nope... the chromis picked on them and killed them within a few days. They only pick on the big tangs. I have gobies, wrasse and a foxface and they are all doing great. As soon as I add a nice tang they go after it. So I really need to get them out before I add any more fish. Since then I have just been concentrating on getting nice coral and that has worked out with me well. The coral colonies and growing nicely and doing great in the tank.

Hows that 450? Have pics?
