Everyone,
It has been an hectic few months. I moved into a new home in June, then my new tank arrived in late july and finally my little girl arrived in Aug. So my piorities have been to my little girl, new house and then the new tank.
I have been working on the new tank during my spare time (when my little girl is sleeping.. :D). I have gotten a few things done. First off here is some background info on my new system. It will be an in wall tank viewable from my dining room. It will sit in my garage surround by a separate room.

Tank:
520g Acrylic Tank (96"x48"x26") built by *******
Steel stand (46" Tall) also built by *******

Equipment:
4 x penductors (Running off 2x GenX Mak 4 on CL)
2x 6100 Tunzes Streams (on a AquaSurf)
2x 6101 Tunzes Streams (on a AquaSurf)
Gen-X Mak 4 Return
Euro-reef RC 1000 Skimmer
120g custom acrylic sump (48"x28"x20")

Lighting:

3x 400w RF 12K MH
4x 54w T5s (supplement lighting)

Controlled by Neptune AC III

And I will have an attached 65g frag tank.

Now to the pics :D

Here are a couple of pics when the tank came in:

Thanks..

I got good deal after the whole ordeal with AFY closing down without warning. ******* stepped in and help me . They did a great job on the tank. It is 1" thick all around and 3/4" bottom.

Very nice looking tank there. Subscribed.... heh

I'm going to be watching this one VERY closely so make it a good thread with lots of pictures :D Reason I'm subscribed is because the dimensions on your tank are almost identical to what my next tank will be (96x48x27) and I want to see what you do with plumbing it and aquascape. So what type of reef will it be? Good luck, this should be a fun thread to watch.

I think you will really like your choice of tank. Mine is 96x48x30 *******e and it is roughly 535 gal. inside dim. I can't wait to see what you do with yours should be a good one.

Tangwich.. Thanks..

I feel all this pressure on me now to post a good build thread. I will do my best.. :D

I plan to post a good deal of pics. Not a very good photographer, but I make up for it in the # of pics.

Planning on going with SPS dominant mixed reef. A good deal of LPS and a few softies here and there.

Are you going to with glass or acrylic? Any ideas on a builder yet?

535freak.. Thanks

Wow!! Another 4'x8' tank. I guess they are becoming popular now a days.

Yeah, my true water volume for the tank is more like 460g, but I like the sound of 520g better ..:D

Is your tank glass or acrylic?

This is my first acrylic tank. I am having to be very careful not to scratch it.

Sounds like this is going to be a well-rounded beauty of a reef. As for my tank, I'm going to be real methodical about it and ensure that I overthink every part of it since it will most likely be my last tank/dream tank. The dimensions are all that I am certain of as of now. Can't decide between Starfire glass or Acrylic and can't decide between Peninsula style viewable on three sides as a room divider or standard rectangular with black back and external overflows. Have much to think about and as of now, just glad that I can see how yours comes along so that I may "borrow" some ideas..lol..
As for pics, we won't judge or criticize how bad the pics may be, we just want lots of them :D So thanks in advance for taking the time to post them

Lets put together an " 8x4 tank owner thread" :D. I also have an 96x48x24 peninsula tank But mine is only 411g :(.... I notice the opening on your top brace kinda small.

Are you sure you want 46" stand :D? Mine is only 44" tall and it kinda hard to put the tank on top....

Tangwich I agree how important planning can be. I spend over 3 months just on the planning phase before even ordering the tank. So take your time.

And I have been gathering ideas from all the other beautiful large tank threads in this forum. There has been some really innovative ideas. So free to borrow anything you see :D

535freak I love peninsula style, just don't have the room for it.. :(

tanya72806 Well.. I am planning to build a cat walk around the tank and space is going to limited. Also, external overflow are pricey.. :D

I am planning to have all the plumbing underneath the tank.

Bax Thanks.. Yeah, it is hard to work on my tank with a kid strapped to my back.. JK.. :D

Jar*Head Thanks..

Yeah, a the opening are small. I wish they where bigger, but what can I do. Only good point is I am planning to only run 3 x 400w MHs.

Yeah, 46" is pushing it. From the dinner room, it is only 40". The there is a 6" drop off in the garage. But I am planning to build a cat walk to access the top of the tank. Kind of like how Steve Weast did it.

Here are some pics of my old 225g reef before breaking it down and moving it. I want my 520g reef to look like this just bigger :D

still upset i didnt get to see the 225 (my fault) but his new system is pretty stout. for those that dont know nathan, the rasoc club was giving him a hard time because we could see some pvc glue around one of the joints. hes rectal. is that pc
we need more photos of your carx and that cluttered sump.

Wow!! I totally forgot about this thread. With the holidays time just flew by. It has been almost a month since my last update.

As "tjh" has mentioned I do like to clean and well organized setup. :D I love clear PVC primer. I bought a quart of it for this project.

Wow! You're really putting together a dream tank! Your 225gal was gorgeous - can't wait to see what you do with the new one. I'm subscribed.

Tom.. Thanks!!

That is a real compliment coming from you. I have been following your thread and all I can say in "Impressive"!! I thought I was a detail oriented.
