535 gal FOWLR stocking list??

New 535 gallon tank, with 200 gal sump. Made the decision to have FOWLR than a reef tank. Will cost way too much to operate a huge tank like this with corals. So, here's my stocking list. These are 100% confirm will get fishes. Might add others later. All the fishes on this list are going to be in 2-3 inches range, or the smallest available. Will add fish in 5 seperate phase according to aggressiveness. The most peaceful ones will be the first to enter this swimming pool as my wife would call it.

Angelfish:
Goldflake Angelfish
Queen Angelfish
Annularis Angelfish
Emperor Angel Fish (1 adult & 1 Juvenile)
Blueface Angelfish
Conspicuous Angelfish
Majestic Angelfish
Personifer Angelfish

Tang:
Achilles Tang
Yellow Tang (3-5)
Purple Tang
Black Tang
Blue Hippo Tang (3-5)
Clown Tang
Blonde Naso Tang (pair)
Chevron Tang
Sohal Tang
Fowleri Tang

Butterfly:
Yellow Long nose Butterfly
Pearlscale Butterfly
Copperband Butterfly

Others
Green Chromis (9)
Moorish Idol (3-5)
Crosshatch Trigger fish (pair)

Invert?
Black Longspine Urchin

What are other invert that can be safe inside this tank and help clean the tank up??

Thanks!

i dont know if keeping two emperors is such a good idea. Add to that they will also have the company of three other angels from the same genus and a queen angel, it sounds like you may have a fight on your hands. If you can pull it off. it will be a great display. With some of the rough fish that you will have, are you sure you want to risk a conspic angel in the mix? its a lot of money to lose if a fish decides he doesnt like him. Also be aware that sohal tangs are very aggresive and people have had them take over tanks as big as yours. You can add any invert you want to that stocklist, none of them are invert eaters, including the crosshatch trigger. I would think that you could probably add some small fish to the mix if you want to. maybe a shoal of anthas. Maybe some dwarf angels as well

That mix is way too rough and tumble for the yellow longnose and copperband BF's..

agree with both of the above...also think that is too many fish, even for a tank that size...but, it is going to be a very sick tank and look forward to pictures...good luck and have fun!

listing fish to buy or writing the check is the easy part IMO.

the tough part is QT-ing all the fish and keeping them healthy.

I think you will have issues with that stock list. Knowing the dimensions of the tank would help a lot.... 8ft, 10ft, 12ft long??

You need to look not at their size when you buy them but what will they look like in a few years when they are closer to full grown. Sohal, Clown, Naso, Fowleri all get over a foot long, some of those in a year or two with a HUGE attitude no matter what their size. Then the Angels you are in the same boat... several will get to a foot plus long in a pretty short time... I would be amazed if you could put all of them in there for very long.

Sohal will probably beat the crap out of the Clown.... I would say one or the other..... not sure how achilles would fare... my powder blue dominated my sohal.... I would think all of those tangs would be OK with the exception of the clown/sohal.

I have a 10ft 475g.... & also plan on a few large angels & a few tangs.... I also plan on getting a few dwarf angels

96"x48"x30" would be the size of the tank. I had seen another tank at about 450 gallons, with double the fish amount that I have. All were larger fish, the lesson I learned from his tank, was the placement of the live rocks. it must have tons of caves and hiding places. I will cross my fingers and really hope this will work out. I saw the Gem tang just right now, and that is a beauty also!!!!

Im sure you will hear "tank's not big enough" but don't listen to them.. you should be fine. Its your tank and your dime do with it as you please.

It's possible, but you would need to do a lot to curb the aggression. Here's an example of someone doing somewhat like what you are attempting and how he did it. They key is a lot of rock and caves. And crazy efficient and oversized filtering.

this article again...
don't do it...
read the entire article, every word, including the comments on the bottoms...then check the dates...and look for follow-ups...

take it from someone with a 600 fowlr, you have too many fish. i had less and still had to thin it out.

and that article is not a good example of the fowlr, do you ever wonder why we have not seen any news or updates on that tank? i'm betting half the population is not in there anymore

Ok, thank you very much guys for your input. My next question would be, if I was to tone it down a little. Which are the fish I have to give up. The list above are what I dream of, and my dream fishes. Which would be the one to give up. Of course I am not hoping to give up half of them.

Here is a list of the fish in my fully stocked 600g tank.

Angels... 6" passer, 3 1/2" queen, 2" coral beauty.
Tangs... 7" powder blue, 3-3" yellows, 3" kole, 3" hippo, 3" purple.
Damsels... 2" phoenix, 2" 3 stripe, 2" azure, 3" starcki.
Wrasses... 5" cuban, 6" banana, 6" bird.
Anthias... 2-3" lyretails.
Clowns... 4" maroon.
Dottyback... 4" sankeyi

Thats a total of 21 fish... I dont like the look of an over crowded tank.

Well, Angelfish and Tangs are the only two kind of saltwater fish I consider beautiful. Others to me look too much like a freshwater fish, not to offence anyone, but I had freshwater fish when I was a little kid growing up till my teen.
I can skip the pair of crosshatch triggers, Goldflake angelfish, the blue face angelfish, and the Personifer Angelfish
As for Tangs, I can skip the Black Tang, Blue Hippo Tang, Clown Tang, and the Chevron Tang
Was thinking of a Gem Tang, but don't know what else to give up.
I can also forget the butterflies.

Would that be a better list?

That leaves you with 4-5 angels. I think you are fine. I tell you what, once you start collecting the fish, your taste in fish will change also.

I love my personifers and they are very tame too. They look great together. You could do a pair? Peter(SDguy) has a male/female combo. I have a true & false personifer combo. My personifer pair http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rM9GNflQs9E&feature=relmfu

Sohal's are brutally aggressive. I saw my LFS 5" sohal beat up on a sailfin and emperor. He ended up having to put it in a tank by itself. A couple of people I messaged on here regret getting theirs.

Maybe consider ax-ing the Butterflies and the other fish group. Keeping only angels and tangs. Green chromis survival rate in groups are terrible. They tend to dwindle down to 1-2 after awhile. Moorish Idol are difficult to keep for any extended period as a single much less 3-5.

Well, Angelfish and Tangs are the only two kind of saltwater fish I consider beautiful.

Overtime when you have only a few angels don't be surprised if you're suddenly intrested in some wrasses or triggers. I had a phase like you where I only wanted tangs, angels, butterflies and a few damsels. Eventually I wanted to try other shaped fish so maybe it'll happen to you. However, I have not reached a phase where I wanted multiples (2 or more) of the same fish except for clownfish.

3-4 large angels, 4-6 tangs plus 2-3 butterflies should still leave you plenty of room to add smaller fish, but thats just my generous estimate.

Just hope you have large enough holding tanks when you do your quarnatines, because it sounds like you're going to be doing 3-4 tangs quarantined at the same time.
