Ok so Im starting a build, I have a 540 gallon tank 8ft by 3ft by3ft
I just purchased a bk300 external, a 4002 for my ca reactor, a 660 ice cap for my vhos and 4 lumenbrights for my halides which Im going to start off useing 250s to see If I can get a way on saving on my electric bill, I plan on going heavy sps with some rare soft corals on the bottom, my question is flow? How much do I need? I have two tunze waveboxes I plan on using and my sump pump is a sequence 4300 I have 4 koriela 4s but I think I want to go all tunze what would you guys recommend that would do the best job.

you gonna sell that 300 in your avatar when you set up this tank by chance...let me know if you decide to what it is.as for flow i would use a couple tunzes on a controller.i have a pair and love the flow

Still looking for some help guys, I worked out a deal with jarhead and it looks like Im adding two 6301 to my list with this and what was mentioned above do I have enough flow to go heavy sps or will I have to add more, can you guys tell me what your turnover is in your tanks?

If it were me with those dimensions of tank and the equipment you now have I would wait until you have water in the tank and see how you like it. The only other thing you can do is go Wavy Seas, or add an overhead closed loop with maybe a reeflow hamerhead.

The 6301s are going to be nuts in that tank. I doubt you'll need anything else besides a return with those guys. Close to 16,000 GPH just those two. Maybe eventually as it gets full of corals, you may need something else as far as flow goes, something like a wavebox would be cool.

Get us some pics =)

My new tank dim is close to your except it is 8 X 4 X 3. I have four external waveboxes with 6201; and gonna run 2 6301 and add 2 more 6305 (when they come out in Oct) :D And a Reeflo Snapper for my return.

I have 4 6201, 1 6301 in my 300 now with a Sedra 9000 on a wavysea. I have to turn the 6301 all the way down; so some of the fishes can actually swim :eek2: The 7095 controller is awesome.

Justin, I have a quad pack of 6101 turbelles in my 400 gal and have great water movement. I don't even have them running full power but a variable mode. My LFS owner recommended not wasting money on the wave boxes. They are $500 each...

WOW I have been searching for a larger tank 400 to 500 gal, but having trouble finding which is a good manufacture? going for 96x36x30 1/2 in or 36 high with 3/4. May I ask who did you get your tank from and are you happy. I am in south Fla. and I am having all kinda of trouble. No-body talks over 300 gal ... Looking at glasscages.com but I really want to get this part of the purchase right<<< can anyone help ??

I actually found it on craigslist, the guy said it was built somewhere in atlanta the weight I would guess is maybe 300-400 lbs 5 people lifted it no prob

Hum lighter than I thought, I just dont want 500+ gal all over the floor, need to make the right decision (Have a Wife) The 3 I am looking at are All Glass aquariums, Miracles aquariums and Glass cages. Really dont want to make the wrong choice. So are you running the 540g now? The 36 inch depth got me looking again but the perfecto 300 did not seem to be a big upgrade for the money also wanted more than 27 height you running 36 height, does it make that much of a difference?

It must be acrylic at only 300-400 LBs. My starfire 190 weighs that much.. Miracles told me shipping weight of my 300 was 7-800Lbs with the crating on it..

redfisher, just be careful if you go with glass cages. A lot of bad reviews about them. I've seen several of their tanks in person. Some good some bad.. I live pretty close to them and both my custom tanks came from canada lol.. IMO the tank builder is no where to cut corners on.. Just think how much water this thing holds back.. If it lets go... You would not only loose your livestock, but the damage all that water would do to your home...
