Just bought a 55 gallon to use as my sump/fuge for my 125 gallon trigger tank and was wondering if anyone can help me build the baffles. Did not know how high up i can put them and i will be using the DIY PVC pipes as well. Thanks
I would shorten the refugium section and make a bigger return section.
I would also add a under baffle before the return bulkhead. The overflow from the fuge will created some bubbles is it hits the water in the return section. Adding the under will help keep some of those bubbles from migrating to the pump.
I doubt the water level in the return section will maintain the same level as the fuge (as is diagramed)
At that short of a section it would drop significantly when the pump is operating...If the power goes off the water level should rise in that section until the level in the DT drops to you overflow level.
By shortening the fuge, you will give yourself more water volume in the return section that will also result in longer periods that you are able to go before haveing to top off (if being done manually)
1/4 x 11 3/4 x 12 1/2 i think(i have to find my build sheet to be sure--- i placed 3 before return and one before refuge--- my display tank is a 55 gal

this works excellent i use one too feed my skimmer and another to my fuge 6 months never lost siphon and when power goes out and comes back on it will auto siphon.
