It's an aesthetic thing. There's nothing per se "wrong" with 5500k bulbs if you don't mind the look.
 
Just because it is a 5500K bulb does't not mean it will be brighter than a 6500K or 10000K bulb. Lower K doesn't always mean it is more light, it just might be more green. ;)

Does it matter if they are 5500k plus hamitons?Does the plus mean anything?

Which one results in faster growth?
 
I really don't undertand why you would try a 5500K bulb for better growth, it won't be any better than using an XM10K and it most times will result in less coloration than the 10K.
