55g stocking

I recently had most off my fish die on me (except my sixline)because of amyloodinium. Any way, i saw this as a opportunity to come up with a different stocklist. How does this sound

1 x dwarf lion, probably radiata o antenata
1 x arc-eye hawkfish
2 x maroon clownfish
would my six-line be able to live with these guys, or would the lion fish eat him?

Cheers,
Daniel

P.S. I dont plan on adding anything for atleast 2 months because i am going to quarantine and treat my sixline, cook my lr and leave my tank fish free, to kill the parasite

that list sounds good minus the lion. the maroons will get quite large and territorial in the confines of a 55. keep the hawkfish and the wrasse, but I see the lion as a potential problem.

thanks for the reply stykthyn, just wondering, why do you see the lion as a problem, is it because he would eventually try to eat the sixline?

Would a different type of lion, probably a zebra/dwarf lionfish, make any difference? lastly would the lion or hawkfish attack attack a bicolour or lawn mower blenny?

any other opinions will be appreciated

Cheers,
Daniel

both the lion and the hawkfish have the potential to attack the wrasse and the blenny, although I do see the wrasse holding out longer than the blenny. I would discourage the lion on the sole basis of the bio load it will place on the tank. as the clowns mature the female will become quite large as will a zebra or anntenata lion. dont let the word dwarf fool you, they can easily attain 10" in length not counting their wingspan. I have seen zebra's that can rival some volitans. the only lions that I would consider for a 55 would be a fu manchu or a fuzzy dwarf. both of these fish are picky eaters and are nocturnal so they hide under a rock all day instead of hanging out like their larger cousins.

Thanks for that info.
does anyone else have any opinions on that stocklist, or dwarf lions in a 55g reef tank

dwarfs are great fish, you wouldnt be able to put in shrimp in the tank or fish that can fit in its mouth. otherwise great fish. a volitan would get to big, these fish grow really fast.

I dont see it being a problem. I have a pair of GSM clowns in my 55g. They aren't all that aggressive IMO. As long as you have an anemone for them to stay in, I think that is what helps keep them on the mild side. As for the dwarf lions, it will take several years even with heavy feeding for them to outgrow a 55g tank. If thats what you want...GO FOR IT! the Arc eyes can be MEAN little guys, you might want to go with a flame or long nose hawk insted. And as for the 6line, they are mean little guys aswell as quick so I dont think it would be a problem with the lion...Good luck

thanks for the replies, I would be interested to hear what other people have to say about the dwarf lion

Cheers,
Daniel
