Hey ReefCupid is that a standard 55g? What kind of powerhead you got in it? Would 2x K4 1200gph be too much for a 55g I have as well that will be a frag tank.

I love your frags and corals where you stay at?

Hey C. Thanks for your comment. Yes its a standard 55g. The power head is a no name brand. I got it while I went back to china for $5usd. :lolspin: its a very strong power head. According to the spec. the pump pushes over 3000gph but I think its more like over 4000gph. Anyway to anwser your question. It really depend on what you want to grow in your frag tank. Just from my past experience with my first 40g breeder mix reef 8 years ago. I had 4 #4 korolina in each corner pushes a total of 4800gph and all of my softies, lps, and especially all my acropora seems to be very happy with alot of polyps extension. So I think 2 k4 1200gph is not too much for a 55g. what I recomend may work for me might not work for you. So try messing around with your powerhead and watch how your corals react to your flow setting before you permanently dial and tune your flow. If you intend to grow softies and lps in your 55gallon. 2 pumps pushes 1200gph is perfect. Just make sure you keep your corals half way down your tank or lower and the flow blowing towards the surface and not directly toward your corals. For sps, depending on what light you are using. Just keep them high up in your tank about 3-8 inches below water surface and they should be fine too.

I live in Albuquerque New Mexico, if ya ever happen to end up in this desert you are welcome to stop by for a visit.

Looks crowded. Think u should share some corals with the rest of us. Lol

Just kidding. It looks awesome!!

Thanks X. Oh man, this is not crowded at all. The system in my green house is much more jam compare to this one. This is why I'm setting up this tank plus another 270g frag tank. That way I could trim down the mother colony and slowly transfer everything to my new tank to give the corals in my green house some space to grow.

Good info, yes I have been reading a lot on corals some required good flow others less. I'm coming up with a layout where they would good according to their required flow. Each k4 pushes 1200gph but I'm getting 2 lol , also my return pump is a mag 12 I'm planning in doing a spray bar.

Thanks just passing on advices from numerous error, mistakes and experience from the pass. Spray bar is a great way to create flow evenly throughout your tank. A very nice way to save money if you cant afford a vortech. lolz

By the way if you do shipping sales il be more than welcome to buy from you :)

Not trying to exaggerate or anything but I probably have enough livestock to open a reef store. HAHA :lol2: yea alright i wish. Alot of friends and family been encourage me to open one but we'll see what happen in the near future. Hopefully I get enough support and encouragement grow some balls take a gamble in this risky business and hope for the best if I do. :lmao:LOFL!!

would love to see your layouts and do fully encourage anyone to put forth the effort to help us all to do the hobby better even if that includes supplying frags to those of us still trying to duplicate your successes. great looking frags!!!! keep up the great work!!!!
