Hey guys! time for a update.
got all the lines ran and water has been flowing. I am on zeo day 2 of cycle- plumbing was a pain but everything is done the sump is set up with one 2inch drain and 1 1inch drain then the other 1'inch drain goes to a frag/refug area

I ended up with 248g total volume and have 150lb of life rock in it. the sump holds lots of water which is awesome. next to the sump "closet" is another closet that i have the auto top off in- currenlty have a 34g rubbermaid but going to get a 100g plastic guy so top off wont wear me out!

here are some tank and sump pics
the time lapse camrea is on little red shelf and sees from the kitchen side

as far as taking care of the tank i am following zeo guide/cycle info from there website evyething to seem to be going well

i have the light on from 230-12 slow ramp up and down. I will go into detail when i change it for coral.

i added a small amount fresh live rock from from a buddy system

any questions or concerns plz ask! or tell!!

Beaver - arch is to big to off set and golden ratio was used to determine l vs w - 56 long/34 wide=1.64 vs golden ratio of 1.61 - that was my determination of the final deminsons - movie pi is one of my favs

Andddd the arch is 34 inch long vs 54.5 id of tank which is 1.60 :) - no other rock could be made with ratio in mind

coral

coral

coral!
today is day 10 when the zeo guide says i can add small clew up crew and some "easier coral"
added a lime in the sky and a monti setosa -i am just nervous adding a ton of SPS in a 10 day old tank!! ekk - i still think this is crazy lol

You probably want to stick to the basics (Bak, Start, and SP) for a few weeks before adding other additives such as Xtra and CV. Also, do not use Zeofood, it is not needed. Continue to let your Alk drop into the range, 6.5 - 7.5 before putting your calcium reactor or similar method online.

Watch for Sponge Power and Start3 overdosing indicators and adjust accordingly.

Potter - I use the stuff listed below ur post that ride is talking about
Ride - I will follow suit - this is my first zeo tank so been reading like a mad man

are you using a zeovit reactor with the media or just the supplements?

i use a Vertex RX-Z 3.0 ZEOlite Reactor. And i have 250g of total water volume and been running 2.4l of zeolite in the reactor

zeoguide recommneds you use 1L / 100g , then use a rate of flow of 50g-100g/ 1L / hr of stones so i can run it between 120 gph - 240 pgh

the max flow the pump can accomplish 260 gph (so says the pump which is a Eheim Compact 1000) so i turned it down to about 3/4 power and kept the ball valve open ( the reactor has a really nice ball valve) so after my jug test i am at 195 gph flow

its a really nice reactor, heavy duty , quite, has a good look to it.

ARe you think of doing a zeo system? guessing who has a stocked tank?

I looked into zeo but not going to do it. I like to look around and see who is doing what and using what products.

update

update

hello all

above I posted my fist time lapse

so over the last month or so

Tank cycled in about 10 days- I used the protocol that is on the web for zeovit
http://www.korallen-zucht.de/index.php?article_id=57&clang=1

I followed it to a T. Worked very well- made me very nervous lol
I added 3 "easy" sps on day 10 as well as a chevron tank. All are doing well
THe chevron, Squishy, has been happy and a great swimmer. He has been putting on weight well and gets feed 3/4 days. day 1 brine day 2 mysis day 3 off day 4 mega-marine algea. Have tryed all "colors" or nori, he will pick at green. Dose a good amount of tank cleaning which is a bonus.

From day 20 to 35 or so my water quality wasn't doing well. Took me forever to figure out. I didnt check my rodi water in about 4 years ( iknow iknow). So basically i was doing water changes with dirtier water than what was in the tank. It was silly, Since I have replaced all the filters (including membrane) and DI resin. Rookie move! always check your rodi. lol

Since all is doing well. We are almost through light testing phase. We have SSC (wild), red with blue tips (wild), green acro, Rainbow monti, Oculis violet crumble and monti setosa. not shown is a large pink tube aneomne (not staying in there to long) and a susnet monti

I have the Vertex at 48% white, 68% royal and blue, and uv 50%
They ramp up/down over 2hr and are on from 330 till 11 (blues ramp down at 3 hrs and are on till midnight)
they are all up on the arch way currently and have colored up nicely.

Also adding a mp40 tomorrow and changed my skiimer up. I have been waiting since Aug for a Vertex Alpha 200 but gave up and now am waiting on a Reef Super Oct 5000int. Once we get that guy up and running we will be adding more fish

Zeovit update
Currently using zeobak/start as labeled. Also started using pohl extra and coral vitilzer per instructions. I have had susscess with these in the past and prob will cont these for a couple of months to see how we do

I just got some coral from jason fox (yesterday), barney/champagne/SOTR/paris hilton
once i get those light acclimated, i will increase the intensity of the light s and move the coral off the arch way (arch way will be only for a couple or plating acro and mostly encrusting monts )

currently only have 1 fish, squsihy the chevron tang, but tomorrow we are getting a large female golden rhomboid wrasse from DD.

I will post the pics of the fox coral and golden on sunday !!

SOOO what i need from you guys is fish suggestions. I am open to anything and any topic discussion
( only no's no's are fish above 500$ ie gem tang, consp angel, or blue striped tamarin wrasse)
