nice! i like the time lapse..
is that a basic video camera with the fps slowed down?
what type of snail is that running around your tank, you have like a kajillion of them..

Very cool time lapse. Makes those snails look like they are really moving.

Did you end up getting the SOTR? I've been waiting to get one of those for a while now.

Nice set up. That is a bold choice using the nut cracker to connect the rocks together. Especially when acrylic rod is so readily available. Hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt you.

it is actual a brinno time lapse camera TLC200, it has many options of taking vids. Like i said above we took a days worth of pics, by 1 pic q15 min then fps of 15/sec so basically 3.75 mins every sec. We have lots of play with it- u can take as many pics per min u want and have frame rates of 1 5 10 15 20 30.

The goal is to play around with it get some fun vids and then set up shot and take 1 pic a day for 6 months .... :)
if you would like a vid or wanna suggest a pic/ fps let me know - more than glad to get some back up on this toy

I have got 1 reef cleaners pack and it has lots of small snails, the rimless is futile they ALL climb out over time.

Also show how active they are when they look "dead" . be alot better once we get some more fish.

Thanks like i said above, suggest one i will record it sometime soon!

Yes i did. THe SORT is a tiny frag but it shipped very well. I was very nervous about how it would ship bc i knew it would be small. Its my fav coral i have seen for sale i will attach a pic for you- Its got good color on it, blue base red then blue tips with white polyps.

PIc- left side is sotr next to it is a paris hilton.

I hope it doesnt. Someone else in the thread scared me so i took a dremal to it and no cooper or anything under the steel

Can you share some insight into how you made such nice arches with your live rock...

thanks

I took a little bit of time to and tryed to lego them together it took a while but most all fit together well after i used some reef epoxy. I did this dry so everything stuck well. Then as Sisterlimonpot said above, i used some steel rods in the bases to get them to hold together . It took me 3 times to get a arch that was strong enough to hold a 10lb weight on it. wanted to make sure someday if i have monster colonies, it could still hold up.

Second pic posted is the view from the time lapse

I am really on the fence about what fish livestock to add next.

any body wanna chat aobut that :)?
prob leaning towards a pair of wrasses
thanks for following guys.

Some of my favorites:
Possum wrasse- small and secretive but very cute.
Melanurus wrasse- colorful and active and maybe even a coral pest eater..
Leopard wrasse- pretty, active and docile
Radiant wrasse- active, all over swimmer, very nice, docile and can be kept in groups where one will develope into a male.

Love the tank and the scape. Can't wait to see it full of mature colonies.

On a cautionary note, I too would be concerned about the use of the metal rods. I've read too many posts about reefers being unable to keep corals only to find out there was some sort of toxic metal poisoning going on. You might want to ask about them in the Chemistry forum. If it turns out to be a bad idea, it is much easier to fix now than when you have your arch covered in corals.

Very true, I am having no issues with any coral. It was stainless so we will hope. I also run some poly-filters just encase. thanks for the concern.

Well i havent posted in a while. we have had for a couple of months now, gold rhomboid (named pandora), red tail tamarin (named bil), and a chevron tang (SQUISHY!) all fish currently eat whatever

I dont wanna add any leopards due to the tamarin. my pods population gets destroyed. Melanurus is going around in my head, as well as a radiant.
Leaning away from the Radiant bc it can look very similar to a tamarin adult. ( and i plan on adding another tamarin at some point)

ALso been thinking about another Cirrhilabrus sp. either a bathyphilus (hooded) or SCotts (scottorum). But not sure if they will get along well with the Golden Rhomboid.

Any one have any experiences with this? I am going to make a post on reef fish page and go from there.

Wonderful tank.

reefmutt provided some stellar wrasse suggestions. Looking forward to seeing this stocked up.
Thanks

SO what does everyone think between a hooded or Scotts (aussie)?

Feeding fish daily, then
Coral update.
All my coral is doing well. I think we have hit the ULNT situaition, we have not had a nitrate or phos in about 3 weeks ( via red sea and hannah)
so we have had some dulling of coral color. Increased use of Pohl extra and Coral vitlaizer from zeovit. ALSO need more fish poop, so lets pick a wrasse :P

Love the red tail tamarin.. all the tamarins, actually, but I've never had long term success with them..
Terminal male Scott's are amazing fish!
Those fairy wrasses can be real jumpers..
I'd add a screen if you add more fairies..
What about a mystery? One of my favs..

Ok last and best choice...
Haven't seen one in years but if I ever did, I'd probably sell one of my kids to get it..
8 lined flasher from Red Sea.

Paracheilinus octotaenia

And if I found a trio of a male and 2 females, I'd have to sell both kids..

Thanks for talking with us about wrasses reefmutt, yea those 8 lines are pretty sweet.

Right now (after a small thread on reef fish) i am going to do a hooded wrasse.

I keep veryone posted

I want to suggest some grade A Picasso Clowns, One of my favorite fish, I know a lot of people have clowns but with a picasso or snowflake, they will not look like any other clowns. I am really liking this tank. Good luck with filling this with coral. I will be tagging along for the ride.

Anytime!
The hooded wrasse as a really nice fish.
I am on the search!

Thanks! Yeah I thought about clowns but for some reason they are just not hitting the spot. Even tho I agree with what your saying, there are some amazing clowns out there, I have been digging on the phantoms - I go back and forth so much on fish choice is borderline obs compulsive lol-

It's so fun but boarder line stressful -
