57 Rimless Illuminata Build!

Nice tank and good start on the 'scape.
But your dosing bottles above the tank are getting low. ;)

Edit; missed the 1st bottle reference.

Not only does the aquascaping look fantastic, but there are soooo many places for corals. This is going to be sweet!

Thanks Ritten! I scaped for 5 hours yesterday untill I was completely satisfied! And that was the plan...less rock more CORALS! hahaha

Thank you Jimmy, I will definitely keep an eye out for water and salt creep. Thats the main reason I didnt mount the ballast inside the cabinet I was afraid of water spilling on it.

Looks REAL good but definately not the safest place for the ballast. I would at least turn it sideways so a wired end isn't facing up. especially being rimless your bound to get a little water where it is now sooner or later.

Thank you I'm currently looking at getting some type of box so I can put my electrical stuff in.

I have a question when should I add a piece of live rock and some sand to the tank. The salinity and temperature still isn't quite right. A friend of mine has some lr and sand that he said he would give to me.

Pics coming soon as well of the tank filled! Keep a look out.

Heres and update of what I did all day yesterday. Black background added fuge sand in MP mounted and water! The salinity is low and I was wondering the best way to add saltwater to the system I didnt want to just pour it in there. And also when should I add a piece of LR and some sand from my buddies tank???

Any input on how to seed the tank? When should I add a piece of LR and some Live sand? My SG is still low should I wait untill I get it right?

Thank you guys for the comments and answers! SG isn't to low 1.020. Sounds good though ill go ahead and add a piece of LR tomorrow to get the nitrogen cycle going.

Only plans for stocking right now is mainly LPS and softies. Maybe a few SPS which I need to research thoroughly considering my first tank had some SPS that just turned brown and died so I will definitely take a step back and find out what I was doing wrong. This tank should handle SPS fine this time I believe.

SG is fine for where/what your doing at this point. work on getting it to and maintaining 1.025. your right about not adding the salt directly to the tank/fuge. it can be very caustic at first and can kill anything that comes into contact with it. basically playing russian roulette with anything in your tank if you do it. personally i get the 5G bucket and powerhead going for 24 hrs with the RO, then add the salt and let it cure for at least 24 hours before i add it to the tank. some people will skip the 24 hour aereate time before the salt is added. i have done so in emergenices from time to time also, but the extra time doesnt hurt.

Tested the water this morning via API test kits. Ammo tested about 1.0ppm so Im assuming the nitrogen cycle is coming along no nitrite at this time. I added three small pieces of LR to my sump yesterday to seed the tank. SG is coming up as well. Right now its 1.023 thanks Llama for the advice!
