58g Reef (re)Build

yeah but you see how many times I redid it myself lol. All 4 of those "sections" you see have large gaps between em, their just thin and angled, but their is soooo much in and out room for fish to swim. I love the way the 'cave' in the lower right portion turned out, rock was shaped just right for that.

Dude in my other build thread posted this link, I'm debating going with a couple of the strip light kits: http://www.aquastyleonline.com/products/36--LEDs--DIY-Dimmable-Kit.html

Still got a ways to go but yeah, it's definitely coming along. We also found a typical green button polyp on the rock as well, but he's in the "photo bermuda triangle" in my tank. The one and only spot I seem to be unable to focus the camera on... wierd..
Got a smidge of hair algae showing up on that rock in the picture above.

We decided we're going to try the following stuff out as soon financially available.
Dual BRS GFO and Carbon reactor
BH 1000
LED stuff

Once I get the skimmer and reactors, I'll be forced to pull the sump out again and redo it, which I needed a good excuse for that anyways :) After I figure the lights out, I got a juicy froggie pic I saw at Highdefcorals on FB so probably gunna look into that.

Coming along nicely,

What will you use to feed the BRS reactors through the thin tubing?

It looks like it uses a maxijet 1200, I may just try that out, if it needs more flow, than I'm sure I'll figure something out then :P

We just finished testing the tank tonight, ammonia 0, nitrates 15, mag 1450, cal 540, kH 9, phos .25.

Added 6 astrea's and 6 margarita's in just for a little something something to work on the algae that's forming until I get my cleanup crew ordered. Solid brown rocks with little white trails all over the place today. Those little buggers are having an all out diatom buffet from the looks of it. Also got a molley swimming around now so the baby has something to stare at once in awhile. The molley has been hanging around by the sandbed in the middle of the tank so the baby can stand up in his recliner and get eye to eye with the fish. Keep catching him gawking at it, i'm so proud of my little man.

Im already dreaming of a biocube in my soon to be son's nursery. A little nemo pair, shrimp goby and pistol shrimp... some colorful button polyps and an anemone. O dear. This could get out of hand quickly...

CUC arrived today!

yeah.. I thought that too ;)

also got some nerites, nassarius, and florida ceriths as well, not quite to the extent of the dwarf ceriths lol, but mucho mucho snails nonetheless.
ReefCleaners definitely lived up to the reputation I been hearing about them.

And finally, a shot of the ceriths doing what they do best...
Couldn't get them all in the shot, theirs plenty more off camera here too lol

I love hermits. They are excellent cleaners and scavengers. I just buy a bag of shells from hobby lobby and dump them in the tank so the hermits wont kill off my snails.

I just placed an order with reefcleaners.com too, it should arrive today. I love dealing with them, they are so nice and helpful.

lauremf2002,
I love hermits too! You know, I do have the 29g BC for sale with the LED.... the LED's can be dimmed so you could use it as a nightlight and it wouldn't bother the baby! :-D

the pagoda frag I got from the last meeting. the entire side facing the camera was where Lynn fragged this fella, it's already overgrown with new tissue and you can see the new polyps forming :) He's been getting really good polyp extention the last week and getting a tad more green to em lately.

The kenya frag I got doing pretty good, so are the paly's, protopaly's, and the mushroom on this same 'chunk' lol.

These little fella's are just now starting to open back up, but their showing improvement every day

just an FYI, My Kenya Tree is very large and "sprouts/drops" off new branches quite regularly, almost to plauge like proportions. one thing you can do to keep the numbers down is watch for a branches that shrivel up prematurely toward the end of or during the light cycle. At that point you can pull those branches off and put them in a sump/throw away/give them all to Lynn :) , or they will be all over your tank... trust me, I know and am currently deciding whether it will move to the 150g. on the other side of things, there's like 25+ of 4" and larger clones in my 10g quarantine. I call it "My Kenya Forrest". lol I know if I ever have to medicate in that tank it's all done for, but I like a little rock and sand in my quarantine to try and keep stress to a minimum and feel more like their eventual home.

by the way, the tank is coming along nicely:thumbsup:
