5x2x2 build

Well, i finally fall into the large tank section. 5x2x2 with a 36" sump. Should add up to 200 gallons near enough.

Picked the tank up today. Steel stand and a 55" sump. Which isnt what i thought i was getting. I was told the sump was getting a 48" sump which would have given me room for the top up reservoir etc. So will be building a smaller sump. Probs 36"

The tank will be viewable from both sides and one end. Currently got twin overflows. So will most probably block one end off. Also the tank hasnt got a glass wier or anything, just atand pipes with a grate on top. Not ideal. Think i may make a full height overflow

Tank will have all my 4x2x2 stuff transfered and go from there. Not sure how quick this will happen. Over a couple of weeks i expect.

Old tank :

It is some kind of metal pelmet sorta thing. Not sure if its ally or stainless. Ita bonded to the tank top and bottom. Its a fluval tank originally. Ill google and see what i can find. It also has 2 braces

Not got much done today as i was working but made a little progress.

Painted the stand, got some solid wood for either end and a bit of ply for the sump to sit on. Also removed the adjustable feet, as they were 1/2" and would have caused major pressure points

Cleaned tank too

Got the light bracket sorted, wires for the two units will run inside the tubing. The top length will be cut down at some point, bit long at the moment. Its set up so it can be swung either way to access the tank when needed.

Got most of the return line plumbed as well, cut a hole in the pelmet for the return line, and then runs along the tank and has two outlets at the far end.

mixed about 7" of water, which should be enough to make up the difference between old and new tanks.

Now added 25kg of coral sand too. Will be moving rock when i get home from work and going from there. Not sure if I'll need to let it settle overnight before moving livestock. Hoping not as im not sure there will be enough water to keep fish in as well as run the tank with the sump.

We shall see

Sorry for all the updates...
Murdered about 75 aipstasia today. Do love aipstasia-x. Great stuff. My sps and lps are all doing really well, as are my various mushrooms, oddly my clapping xenia (one of my favourite corals) has literally melted away. Leaving just 2 heads from a huge clump. Seems my softies haven't been happy for a while. I lost my toadstool which had been growing like mad in my RSM130D (dieda coupla weeks ago in my 4 footer) and my kenya tree just shriveled up for weeks then re opened but isn't looking fantastic

Haha some more pics...

Odd, this softy used to grow so much i had to frag it fortnightly in my RSM130D, but now it barely opens up, let alone grows.
