60 gal cube azoo

I didn't like that lamp at first but it has grown on me. I thought about putting that over my elos at one point. Looking forward to seeing this with water!

New sump made by Keith, perfect fit gives me room for my food reactor

Water is in, sand in and a piece of new live rock. The marineland slim over flow is making a ton of noise though. Through the rigid airline tubing they have drilled into the elbow I get a nasty gurgle noise. If I put my finger over it and block the hole its quite for 10 seconds then it makes a flush like a toilet does. I dial the return pump back to it's lowest flow and I still get noise.....ugh.

Any ideas?

Wish I could use something like that. Poor design from Marineland makes taking apart the drain impossible. They install the bulkhead and elbow then add the slim over flow making removal impossible :( Im finding others with this issue as well. Hopefully I can track down a fix. It seems to be happening 50/50

How long is the airline that is drilled in to the elbow? On my tank I had the same thing. I had to cut the tubing to about 2 inches and put a silencer on it. I also had to raise the height of my durso.

wish there was adjustment I could make. Its just a upside down elbow with a 1 inch hard airline drilled in the top.

only other thing I can think of is to make it a herbie style overflow, make the return pipe an emergency drain, and have the actual return come over the top of the tank separately.

people thought of that too from my reads, only problem is you cant get the return lock line off, no room to turn it to get it out. they put it in before they siliconed the return cover on... no real options. I need to add a valve to knock the flow down to less then 300 gph I guess and see it that helps. Not ideal but maybe a solution.

I'm going to dinner Saturday night with the Head sales guy of UPG for my region. They supply Marineland as well as many other brands we use. I'll run my problem through him. I'm sure he'll have some kind of insight for me.

Hey Kreeger1 one glad to hear your getting back into it. My friend was telling me what happened to your previous tank. Sry about that. We all have a few bumps in the road, some small, some bigger than others. I lost a tank due to the dreaded three letter word "ich". My worst nightmare... I just set up a 125g reef which is looking quite bare and was hoping some people could help me out with a frag or two. Those black n blue sponges look insane! :bounce1: Good luck to you and definitely looking forward to upcoming pics. Btw I'm in the Strongsville area.

yup, Tony is part of the new club I started 5 months ago, LEAR.

I made a cut in the drain line right above the water level in my sump and I release the back pressure making the return work now...no more noise :)

Tank is up and running, aded one new piece of live rock and Im going to add some Macro rock later this week.
Nice yellow sponge I transferred over from the 120
