Does that help at all G. ?

P.

I guess I thought the Pacific Coast Flow Accelerators come with a loc-line which enables them to be aimed. (See link below) Maybe you used a different product.

I'll be using the Barracuda as well, and will use five accelerators, as you suggested, aimed at the surface.

That helps alot, Paul.

Paul-

i am looking forward to your presentation at imacwest.

Im looking forward to being there, the speaker roster looks great doesnt it.

the speaker roster looks fantastic. i went to my first MACNA last year and i was surprised at how many people attended that didn't go to the lectures.

does the conference comp your lodging? i would like to extend an invitation to stay at my house if you like. i am about 30 miles from the Queen Mary. close to LAX. guest room, meals, 700 gallon tank, still setting up and working out problems.

its been a while since any updates, so I wanted to share with you a contraption I made to acclimate tangs.

The main tank already has a Naso, Hippo, Yellow, Purple, and Powder brown tang. Tha latter is a real bully and goes to town on any new tang - or fish- I try to add.

I have a clown tang that has served its time in a QT system and has been swimming around my frag tank for a few months. I have yet to get him to eat prepared foods, but he munches nori and other seaweed/veggies like its going out of fashion. I picked this guy up at the Petco on NW expway.

So..........my idea was to make a cage inside the tank I can add the new guy to so that they can all have a l look, get over their aggression and settle down.

The cage is 12 by 12 and 20 inches long. The long sides are acrylic and the ends are eggcrate.

Here it is infront of my tank:

The tank basically hangs on the long PVC pipe arms. They rest on the center and side brace.
inside the tank:

and finally from the side: (sorry for the algae on the acrylic- but you get the idea)

The fish is actually inside the cage in all the images- usually hiding in the rock, but he is there:

He has been in there 3 days and all is well. Didnt really see any aggression, so in a few days he will come out and the MAculiceps tang will go in.

The photos were taken on my iphone- so not the best quality but once the lights come on I will take a few better ones.

Paul.

You could probably cut a little door in the side of it later and use it as a fish trap as well. Overall it was a great idea and follow thru, nice!

and since I had the camera out....

if you ever wondered what a sea cucumber does for your sand....well this is what he leaves behind as he eats his way across the tank:

You could always corral the Powder Brown Tang in there after you release the fish being acclimated. Then they can learn to get along with the rest of the tank in piece.
Works for me putting my kids in the corner =), they shape up after a while

If I could catch the powder brown I wouldnt have the problem....if you know what i mean. :)

Paul, just went through your old thread and you had some viodeos posted on a domain that know longer resolves (http://www.flowinghand.net). Could you repost those vids of your old tank. You took them just after you redid teh aquascape with the pillars. The vids were really nice IIRC. :)

Hi Laurence,

Yes I will try and find them and repost them. Flowinghand was the martial arts school I owned- I took the website down last year.

Ill send you a shout out once I get them reposted.

P.

Paul, have you stopped the Aikido? Or just passsed the school on to someone else? I go through varying levels of activity. In a bit of a down cycle at the moment. :)

Laurence,

I quit....but im seriously thinking on reopening. I found that the style i was teaching was just beating me up too much. Now I have a few Black belts under me I may reopen and spread the joy among them.

-My style was kenpo Jujitsu with a liberal sprinkling of street work.

The tank is looking great from the pics! I'm glad to hear i'm not the only one dealing with a bully powder brown tang.

I was also interested in what kind of cucumber you had, I've been looking into one for my tank that was reef safe to help clean my sand bed but at the same time didn't want to risk nuking my tank if it throws up it's insides.

OK- back to the fish cage and its use.

The clown tang was added to the tank today.

Camera at the ready, the tang was scooped up and dropped into the main system.

Immediately the powder brown tang went jet black and puffed up strutting his stuff. The Clown want impressed, they skirted around each other then decided to go eat on the nori strips I had added.

here are a few pics...they were all snapped inside a few minutes of each other. Some are not in focus since i was snapping so fast.

heres the black PBT- the clown just left the shot

actually they are a distance apart, but displaying.

5 minutes later:
