its been a while since any updates, so I wanted to share with you a contraption I made to acclimate tangs.
The main tank already has a Naso, Hippo, Yellow, Purple, and Powder brown tang. Tha latter is a real bully and goes to town on any new tang - or fish- I try to add.
I have a clown tang that has served its time in a QT system and has been swimming around my frag tank for a few months. I have yet to get him to eat prepared foods, but he munches nori and other seaweed/veggies like its going out of fashion. I picked this guy up at the Petco on NW expway.
So..........my idea was to make a cage inside the tank I can add the new guy to so that they can all have a l look, get over their aggression and settle down.
The cage is 12 by 12 and 20 inches long. The long sides are acrylic and the ends are eggcrate.
Here it is infront of my tank:
The tank basically hangs on the long PVC pipe arms. They rest on the center and side brace.
inside the tank:
and finally from the side: (sorry for the algae on the acrylic- but you get the idea)
The fish is actually inside the cage in all the images- usually hiding in the rock, but he is there:
He has been in there 3 days and all is well. Didnt really see any aggression, so in a few days he will come out and the MAculiceps tang will go in.
The photos were taken on my iphone- so not the best quality but once the lights come on I will take a few better ones.
Paul.
