i would love to get into that stock tub of flat lr
600 gallon Acrylic and Glass Reef Construction.

and that is only about 2/3 of the rock I have. There is also a fully stocked 225g that is holding my fish right now and a 33g cube, as well as the rock in the frag tank...maybe another 100lbs or so there.
The hard part will be figuring which rock i want to use at each step of the aquascaping.

wow!!! how did you manage to get that much flat. even when i called around i could only get boulders
the day was spent gluing all the closed loop fittings together and thinking on how the aquascaping will go.
here are a few pics of the subframe for the rock work. I intend to add a few more branches of pipe and maybe some pillar type extensions. The layout allows me to decide what i want to add or remove. this is still design number 1
the lest side mound:
the right side:
and both together with a pillar at the back
the idea here is that the pipe will anchor the main rock work and help stabilize the structure. It is not yet glued but once it is it will provide a strong fram to allow me to build caves and overhangs.

Actually none of the rock will touch the glass, so no issues there.
The rest of her rock supports its own weight. The frame merely allows you to get the rock into the hape you want. If the rock isnt self supporting it would ultimately collapse.
As i build the rock work and adhere it to the frame I keep checking it is stable.

in the above picture you can se the back of the structure being assembled. Unfortunately the picture doesnt adequately capture the size and dimensions of the structure.

the water has now been added and is circulating - slowly warming up.
Once the cloudiness has cleared ill take a few more pics.

That is an incredible story. I went though something similar on a smaller scale but no where near as impressive as yours.
Amazing job on the rock work. One of these days when I get to do a really large tank I'm going to do something similar. I just don't have the space right now.

amazing doesn't even begin to describe this tank - even standing right in front of it! it is a masterpiece! what impressed me the most was the depth of field. i cant wait to see it when it's stocked.

the other side is done, I just do not have any pictures of it. It isnt as large a structure as the right side. Partly to balance the tank out and also because I wanted it to be more compact and act as a hiding place for the trigger and the tangs I have.
The tank is still a little cloudy- but i havent got the skimmer, nor the sumps running yet- so thats to be expected I guess.
