Yea, the good folks at OG&E double the rates in the summer months for us commercial folks. It seems they live in a evil parallel universe where instead of a bit of a discount the more you buy, you have to pay double!!!!!! But at least they "say" they care in the commercials....

Last month was 1K!!!

AAARRGGGHHH!!!! *falls to the floor in shock* No way! So much for starting up business on my own. There's no way I could pay for all that.

I hate the monopoly that OG&E has. They have, without a doubt, the WORST customer service I have EVERY dealt with...

Not true....
the commission stipulates that OG&E has to purchase power from the cheapest source (buy from WFEC, KP&L, TU, etc), if OG&E cannot generate power at a lower cost.
If you research, you will find that some of the lowest rates are in the mid-section of the United States.
As far as small commericial rates, OG&E went to the Commission to even out the field, because the small businesses were subsidising the larger ones, like GM, Firestone, and the like.
Big Business had better lawyers than OG&E and convinced the Commission that their rates needed to remain lower. The East & West coast have much higher rates and would love for the central part of the US to deregulate. What would happen is the coastal rates would drop & the central areas would go up (the almost empty glass & the full glass example). The Winter rates are low $ because OG&E can supply the existing load with its coal fired plants (cheap). The Summer months are higher $$ because the increased load (air conditioners, etc.). So the gas fired plants (or peaking units) come on line (expensive). Just look at the ONG bills for gas. OG&Es profit margin is fixed by the Cororation Commission too.

Not a Monopoly, exactly....

The state has territorial boundries (TBAs) in which other electric providers are not allowed to cross. PSO is almost as large as OG&E. There are a multitude of Coops which supply the areas outside the larger metro locations. As far as service goes, everyone complains about their service no matter what utility they are on. I even complain about mine, sometimes...I work for the Company! (believe me, there are worse utilities out there)

Hmmm.... No Monopoly eh? Just so happens that I have some experience with the Corp Commission as well as OG&E. All I can say is stick around for maybe three years and see what happens. Things will change. ALthough, rates will never really drop. Sorry Gary.

I think COX Communications has them beat for worst customer service. They are by far the most annoying people to have to deal with.

Gentlemen.........

Please keep this thread for the purpose of discussing the 600g tank and its progress.

Thanks

What method do you use for drilling acrylic for bulkheads? I am going through 5/8 inch I believe. I am drilling for 2 x 3/4 inch bulkheads for return lines. Info would be greatly appreciated.

So basically a hole saw is all you really need if a rough hole is all you are looking for? Thanks I appreciate the input.
Mike D

i wouldnt say "rough hole" mine were exact to spec.

The hole saw, when mounted in a clamp was perfect

I was just saying rough for me because I would not use the equipment you did to ensure the exactness. I would probably be using the hole saw alone without any drill press, double side drilling, etc.

I would honestly recommend the press Mike. It really sets the hole up at 90 degrees to the surface. The hole saws are really a tight fit to the bulkheads I used (Savko).

Pamela and Phillip borrowed mine, and they have perfect holes in their 3/4 acrylic.

You would be welcome to borrow it as well should you want.

Flame tail. thanks I appreciate the kind words. I have to be honest though, I spend WAYYYYYYYY too much time tweaking this tank and have some real issues to sort out before i become slightly happy with the results. The gravity feed through my "temporary" filtration just isnt cutting it.

I want to make the ASM G6 fully recirculating, with around 300-500g/hr feed. That way I can get it up out of the water to reduce the heat input from the 3 sedra 9,000s.

That will feed into the 75g refugium, and then that will feed back into the 100g sump which is soon to be upgraded into a 200g sump. I still have the 150 g shallow frag tank to plumb in.

The next big step is to throw a curtain wall across my garage and reduce the heat and humidity with some AC and fans.

Ill keep you informed how that goes.

Paul.
