6000 Alarm Question

Roger-

I have an odd thing happening with a 6000.


I was getting an alarm from one of the 6000's, so I cleaned my two streams, and wavebox (18-ish hours each in a vinegar bath, and a good scrubbing afterward); and hooked them back up to my 7095.

One Stream, and one Wavebox work perfectly. The other stream alarms whenever I hook up a control cable from the 7095 to it. Thoughts?

I was also wondering if you sell the "sponge" for the wavebox, and new Orange O-rings that fit between the motor block and grate.

You can order the parts you need on tunze.com, just be aware that the sponge is not a filter, it should be on the back of the pump to keep the pump from moving and should not be used as a filter. Usually they last many years, it is part 6212.30. The orings are part 3000.02

So the 6000 works without the multicontroller cable attached?

Gotcha on the Sponge; I'm sure they last forever if the guy taking it off the pump body doesn't rip it... Completely operator error. I know where it fits, I just have a nice tear in it, and want to buy it to have for the next service.

Now on to the 6000. Yes; it works fine off the controller. I'm running it full-bore now; and other than a sandstorm, it's great.

I even tried a different cable, thinking maybe one of the pins in the DIN maybe shorted, etc. No go. Still alarms. I'm pretty sure it's spinning during the alarm, it's just whistling. The wife won't go for that one, believe me.. So, I'm stumped.

Let me know if there's something else you'd like me to try....

What you describe sounds like the magnet is stuck to the upper bearing, please see the thread on cleaning at the top of the forum and check this part. In this condition the pump will run only at full power, if the speed is reduced in anyway it cannot overcome the added drag. Other possibilities that come to mind is the socket on the driver box where the controller connects could possible have some corrosion or salt creep or the drive unit magnet could have a crack. You could try the drive unit from the other 6000 to rule out this problem. You are also welcome to just send it in but it sounds like a relatively simple problem.
