6000 gallon system - Project.

glad to see its not going to be a lobster tank...lol...

sweet...keep us updated

curious what the total cost is...???

Less than a million, more than 59 cents....

I'm not really at liberty to say how much it's costing. Sufficed to say it's probably a lot less than you're thinking.

Nice. Can you tell us more about the sump itself? Material is made of? Where do you get something like that? I have been trying to find a 250-300 sump for my system without having to spend a small fortune in making one out of acrylic.

Custom built by a guy in FLA from fiberglas. Really solid construction. The 6" overflow inlet goes to a dispursion grid that will flow over the 12 or 16 (I forget which) holes that you can see in the picture. Each one will be fitted with a filtersock stuffed with carbon. The second 6" inlet (on the side) flows from the skimmer outlet.

Why MH lighting on a FO? I know 36" is tall but viewing light couldn't be achieved with something less costly or that uses less electricity? Also what wattage are the MH's going to be?

I have relatives in SC so christmas 07 will be at the aunts house

You don't get the ripple effect with anything other than a source point light. 400W 12k bulbs will give a nice blue ripple :)

The restaurant is Silver Bay Seafood. - Simpsonville, SC

Yeah - it's pretty amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. I hadn't seen the tank until yesterday - it's truely HUGE....

The acrylic is 2" thick. The weight of the tank is 7200 lbs.
Woohoo!!! Wife's aunt lives in Greenville and loves to eat at fancy restaurants. Will be making a visit up there after this has been established to see this place. Brother lives in Saluda, SC and he likes looking at saltwater tanks. I think I can talk him into road trip when we visit him and his wife.

Ever been to Soby's in Greenville? Went there a few weeks back when visiting her aunt and had one of the best meals in my life!!

Yep - been to Soby's before. It's a little heavy for my tastes... Lots of fried food for a lot of money. I think you'll find that Silver Bay is much more reasonably priced. I went to their other location on Friday and had some of the best oysters I've ever had... yum....

:eek2:  :eek2: Wow Jamesburg!! I'm impressed!!! And all this time I thought you were just an average Joe schmoe hobbyist like the rest of us;)

Need more pictures!!

I like fried food and you are right about it being a lot of money. Cheapest entree was $17 I believe. But it was first time there.
