On our wavemakers yes on others you will void the warranty. The 6000 is an electronic pump. Wavemaking can be accomplished through an interface on the pump driver that only our Single and Multicontroller interface with. This method of control is able to utilize the computers speed control and allow the pump to speed up and slow down and start softly preventing damage to the drive unit form the harsh starts of a conventional wavemaker.
