6000 too big for 90?

Roger, I was told to post this question to you in this forum:

I was all set to drill holes and set up a closed loop for my 90 gal AGA tank, when I started to read about turbelle stream set ups.

At first I dismissed them because they are pricey, but a closed loop will set me back ~$160 for the pump, and 2 x $150 for the 3/4" sea swirls, totaling $460 (disregarding the hole drilling issue), and getting a 6010 Turbelle Stream kit with a controller costs ~$300.

A poster told me that the 6000 might be too much for my 90 gallon tank (1850 gph DOES sound like a lot). Would this work? The sump return comes out of a megaflow unit, and I suppose I'd direct that stream toward the 6000 unit, if that would work.

It should not be too much flow. Some corals made need special attention for placement and may have to acclimate but it is definitely not to much. Imagine that 1850gph came out of your garden hose- 3/4" outlet. Now imagine that was a 2" diameter hose, the water doesn't have very much force and that is why the 1850 is not too much.

If you have a megaflow tank, how do you place the return flow with respect to the 6000? Since the megaflow is offset to the left (viewed from the front), I was thinking that putting a 6000 on the right side and directing the megaflow return into it would be best. Is this a good idea?

I don't think it will matter a great deal as the Stream alone will provide the flow you need through most of the tank but that sounds like the best plan.
