600g FOWLR

I love how he shakes his head after each bite, should be aggressive enough for long term. The multibars and copperband I'm not thinking so.

Get them through QT disease free and you have a chance. I've have several fish that just maintain their body weight in QT and then start pigging out once they have more room in the DT. As long as they are eating some food you have a chance, if they are not eating at all you might be in trouble.

They are eating but the reason I pulled the one multibar out was because it was so extremely picky with the peices it would eat, and by they time it would find one it wanted that's all he got. They'll most likely end up in a different system, and I'm cool with that. Plenty of fish in the sea.

You had meantioned earlier about your tear drop you had being mean...well mine is terrible... I wanted to see how it would act with other bf's and it did not go well. He went into an install I did were he'll be the only butterfly.

Was he the largest or near largest in the tank?
And was it in a QT tank, if so what size?
I ask because the one I had would not tollerate the other 2 fish in QT (both BFs) and I separated them.
What size was the tear drop and what are the sizes and species of the other fish?
I really really want to try another one but only after I add a few large angels to keep him in check :)

Sorry for so many questions but I'm trying to get a feel for the enviornment becasue not too many people post experiences with tear drops.

No problem with the questions:)

The TD was 2 inches, I picked up a 2 1/2 inch false falcula, 1 1/2 inch lemon, and a 1 1/2 inch pebble I'd like to add to the display. The td was ready to leave QT but I wanted to see how he would be with other bf's similar in size first. I moved him into the 40b with the other three and he was on the false falcula like flies on dead cow. Didn't show much interest in the smaller hawaiian butterfly's though. After 24 hours of chasing even with lights off I removed him. He was best buds with the venustus before that and I think he helped get her feeding response up.

Didn't wanna risk him in the DT because I want to add more small butterfly's still
Hope this helps.
I just didn't wa

Great stuff. What's that food

Also what's the basket your floating the fish in. Do you just do that to let the other fish get used to it

The food is Larry's reef frenzy/herbivore blend.

I use critter keepers for acclimation of small fish for introduction purposes and to make sure they are eating.

This is a bit of a newb question but what are the benefits of a bb tank other than the obvious ease of maintaining/cleaning the tank over a live sand bed? I'm setting a new 200g tank up in a month or so and I'm exploring all options! The tank will be a FOWLR tank and will be the new home for my volitans, fox face, and tangs may also risk a niger trigger as well but not decided yet

Thanks

This is my first bb display tank, I love it! I've noticed less food goes to waste (stuck in sand bed) and the filtration runs more efficient being the poop has less area to settle. I do run bio pellets so nitrates have been less than 10ppm. Being this is acrylic I also like not having to worry about sand scratching the panels during cleaning.
