600gal plus decision!

Hi, i need some input on what size i should order. i am thinking of either a 96x 60wx 24 (600g) or a 120x 48wx 24?

so its the debate over width v. length. what are your opinions? i really like the tanks that are wider like 4ft or more because it seems its easier to create a more realistic aquascape with seperate islands and canyons.

but with length the fish get more room to swim and explore. i also have a marble catshark that would like swim more then in its current 300g. but would really like a school of tangs like yellows, or purlples, or hippos. so which size is better for alot of tangs?

with a tank of that size i think it just comes down to personal preference... with an 8x5 foot tank you can easily have a few tangs in there.
personally i would go for the 120x48 and perhaps go to 30h

i really dont wanna go to that 30h because it would be acrylic and its too hard to clean the corraline off the bottom.

how far away from the panels would the rocks have to be so there would be hardly any corraline build up? anyone try this ?

from my experience coraline stills grows even when the rocks are not near the the panels, just not as much a suppose.
if you dont want to go 30 then maybe it would be better to go with the 96 rather than the 120 as then it would look a bit too long and strange

Coraline will grow on anything, regardless of the placement of rocks. Also, 120" long tanks can be significantly more expensive than 8' tanks. This is more of a decision about how much room you have in your viewing area for what size and style tank, and how you plan on installing it, with regards to elevation and access.

I had a 96x40x30 and it was absolutely amazing!!!! I wish I never took it down!

If I had the choice, I would do a 120inch, but the cost difference was too much for me. I like the 30 inch height though.

Have you considered doorways?
That was my limiting factor.
I went with 96x30x30 and barely got through!

i have double french doors i can take it through in the back yard near the location of where i want the tank.

I can tell you from experience that the ladies prefer width to length. :thumbsup:

but being a guy.and talking about tanks, I prefer length. I think a 10 foot tank would be cool. Thats almost four feet longer than my six foot tank!
