6040 in a 5.5g

They do. It's been out of stock for a while. I'm interested in some more equipment. The nano osmolator for sure and I will have to mount the sensor in the middle because of the wave. Would a 9001 work in there? I'm thinking not as there isn't any place calm to affix it. I did use a 9005 in a 37 gallon with 2 6055s and it didn't seem to be bothered. I did have the door closed all the way on the skimmer. Also, is there a replacement for the discontinued nano filter? The ones on your site look bigger. I have a old body of one but no pump. I think it is useless because if I remember correctly the pump and body changed at one point. Sometimes I think a little mechanical and chemical would be better in this tiny tank.

You can get the pumps for the old ones, the old ones were about 2.5" by 4.5" and the new ones are about 3.5" by 4" so slightly bigger overall. I agree on the skimmer and I tend to think below 15 gallons you are better off with just small frequent water changes. I might be inclined to build my own small filter from just some 1" tubing packed with a bit of carbon and phosphate remover and powered by a very small pump, just to save space and keep it neat, the little 0900 pump we make would work well for that.

I'm still loving the 6040. Everyone that sees it in action is amazed by the wave action and turbulence it produces and how small it is. I have a couple more questions. I'm interested in the photocell. I used to have one on a single controller and it didn't have the moonlight. Do you still have that one as I didn't see it on your website? Does the photocell switch the pump to pulse power regardless of what mode the pump is in? The reason I ask is that I have been using it in wave mode but with the pulse power at the lowest setting. I am getting a .5" wave and small surface waves as well to keep surface film in check. My second question is regarding the food timer. I really like the feature for feeding and top-down viewing. My 6055s used to pulse every few seconds to keep fish away, the 6040 doesn't. My fridmani wants to go inside when it's stopped. I only have the pump power set at 20% could that be it? I can turn it up too much more to test it or water will shoot out of the tank LOL :)

The 6040 instead has a circuit which senses any resistance and will not run, while a small fish like a fridmani could be in some danger, it should stop with any impact.

The photocell has to connect to the DIN port and the only one that will connect is the 7097.050 which has the moonlight as well.

As always, thanks for the fast response. Tunze has the best build quality, design, and of most value to me, unmatched customer support. Whatever they are paying you, it isn't enough.

As for wave mode on the 6040, does it just switch to pulse power at night as it does in pulse mode?

In pulse mode, pulsing stops and the speed stays at Power 1 I believe. For wave mode, it turns off.
