6045 Starting in reverse

Hi Roger,

One of my 6045 Nano-stream's keeps starting in reverse. It only corrects itself when I place my hand over the front to stop the suction. I haven't done any mods to the pump at all and I've only had it for a few weeks. Any ideas?

BTW - My other 6045 is running perfectly and I'm very happy with my two 6025's.

Thanks for your help.

On a new 6045 the most likely scenario is that the drive unit is stuck. They now pretest every pump and they do this dry so some vaseline is applied to the shaft for the test. If they put a bit too much the drive unit sticks and cannot reverse itself. All you need to do to fix this is pull out the drive unit, NOT THE SHAFT, the shaft is permanently part of the pump and should never be removed. Wipe off the bottom of the drive unit and make sure the stainless steel disk is not stuck to it. The stainless steel disk should be separate, it goes under the drive unit.

I just removed the drive unit and cleaned up the stainless steel disk. I plugged it back in and it started in reverse and didn't correct itself. I had to place my hand in front of it to get it to go in the right direction. Any other recommendations?

Try swapping the drive unit from your other pump so we can rule out the source of the problem, drive unit or motor.

Just switched the drive shafts on the 6045's. The "normal" working model seems to be functioning just fine. The "problem" one is still starting up in the reverse direction and not correcting itself. I tried leaving the "problem" one running for a few minutes to see if it would eventually correct itself with the new drive shaft, but it continued to take in water through the output.

Hopefully that all made sense. LMK if you need more information or there are some more tests to run.
