6055 clicking sound

Roger, I just bought two 6055's and a 7095. One 6055 is perfect but the other clicks loudly when it starts spinning. This is very noticeable when the ‘fish saver’ feature spins the prop every few seconds. My intent is to run the 7095 in Interval 1 mode so this is a problem. It is loud enough that it keeps me up at night. For the time being I have switched to Interval 2 where the props never stop spinning, hence no click.

Comparing the two 6055’s I think I found the problem. The one that clicks appears to be missing the stainless steel disk. Could this be the cause?

There is another difference, the magnetic shaft on the one that clicks is white plastic while the other is black platic. But I switched the magnetic shaft + propellers between the two 6055’s … the clicking stayed with the motor, the one missing the stainless steel disk. Swapping the disk seems to solve the problem.

Also, the clips are already broken on one 6055. If I need another disk then we may as well send some clips too. Otherwise I’ll silicon the buggers.

You have one pump that has a new drive unit system they just started making, rather than using the stainless steel it uses a special reinforced black plastic. We are working on this click issue, the solution is very simple but we don't have the part yet. It is due to the 180 degree free spin the magnet has on the prop. On start up the magnet jerks hard through a half turn, catches the prop and makes a slapping noise. A very small oring is needed to dampen this movement. This slack is intentional as a standard AC pump (6025 and 6045) needs this to start, the 6055 does not though so we can restrict this movement. PM me and I can send the clamps.
