If it is not the drive unit here are all the possible culprits-
1) Disk is missing or upside down, part 6055.740 sits at the bottom of the shaft in the pump, it is a black disk inside a blue silicon cup, if this came out at one point and one of the parts of it was lost or it was installed upside down so the blue silicon faces the bottom of the drive unit, it will be noisier.
2) Calcium or sand in the pump, especially between the shaft and drive unit.
3) Front housing is not secure, one locking tab is loose so the housing is angled slightly and the prop can rub.
4) The pump is mounted in such a way that the pump is in contact with a side wall and vibrating against it. Occasionally the cord can also vibrate against a hard surface.
5) The shaft is slightly bent, in general I would not attempt to repair this, it requires a lot of care and special tools, however if it is minor, it will usually straighten out through use.
