6055 Issue/Question

I have two 6055 (appx. 2 months old) I run on a 7095 controller. One pump is almost dead silent, the other has a noticeable hum/noise when running at 100%. I run these alternating with variable speeds from 30% to 100%. When it ramps up the one pump is noisy the other dead silent. Any suggestions?

Try switching the prop assemblies between them. That is the only moving part and the most likely culprit so it is where I would start with diagnosing the cause, if we can narrow it down, we can send the part needed.

I switched out the prop and the same pump is still making the noise. It almost seems slightly louder than before.

If it is not the drive unit here are all the possible culprits-

1) Disk is missing or upside down, part 6055.740 sits at the bottom of the shaft in the pump, it is a black disk inside a blue silicon cup, if this came out at one point and one of the parts of it was lost or it was installed upside down so the blue silicon faces the bottom of the drive unit, it will be noisier.

2) Calcium or sand in the pump, especially between the shaft and drive unit.

3) Front housing is not secure, one locking tab is loose so the housing is angled slightly and the prop can rub.

4) The pump is mounted in such a way that the pump is in contact with a side wall and vibrating against it. Occasionally the cord can also vibrate against a hard surface.

5) The shaft is slightly bent, in general I would not attempt to repair this, it requires a lot of care and special tools, however if it is minor, it will usually straighten out through use.

I still have a problem with this pump. I can hold it in my hand and it still makes a noticeable hum/noise (I know it is not a vibration issue). I can see a black/grey disc on top of the blue silicone. I have cleaned the pump multiple times. You can hear the hum noise across the room. What do I need to check or do to get this problem fixed. The other pump is dead silent.

You are welcome to send it in, the only moving part is the propeller assembly or drive unit so any noise is in someway related to this. Within a day of receipt I should be able to diagnose the cause and have it repaired. Please include a return address, phone number and a description of the circumstances this noise occurs in (speed, type of controller, etc). Only send it to me if you live in the US, for international let me know and I will put you in contact with the closest repair center.

I bought a new 6055 and I am going to send the one making noise for you to look at. Do I need to send the pump only? Or do you want the power supply and other items also?

Thank you

I would only need the pump, I will be on a short vacation from this afternoon through Tuesday so I would not be able to get to it until I return.
