6055 on/off click?

I just got a pair of 6055s and a 7095 controller, and for the most part am happy with them.
They are essentially silent when running...

However when using the controller modes that completely turn off power, there is a fairly loud click when the they turn on, and a similar, though much quieter, click when they turn off.

Is there any trick to quiet this down? One idea I have would be to super glue the propeller to the shaft, right now it can spin about 1/2 a turn before it catches. That trick seems to quiet other powerheads when using a timer on them. Its hard to say, but I think this is what's causing most of this noise. However gluing the propeller increases the initial torque on the motor quite a bit, which may be bad for them...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This is "normal" for all the nanos at start up. I believe I read roger posted once that tunze had an idea in the works for a way to quite the chatter of startup for the 6055 but I could not find the post and could be making this up lol .....

Yes, we are working on this, I checked in for an update with Mr. Tunze and our proposed solution was an oring to dampen the free spinning of the prop and I should get a handful of these soon but I was told the long term solution will be a new drive unit for the 6055 with some slight tolerance changes. The noise comes from the 180 degrees of free spin that the prop has on the shaft. This is critical to the 6025 and 6045 start but is not needed on the 6055 so we can eliminate it from this model.

6055 click

Well, I'm having some more problems with my 6055. I noticed the click too and was happy when it stopped a few days ago. Unfortunately, I think it stopped because the motor is going out. I unplugged the pump from the 7091 controller so it would stop cycling on/off, but that didn't help. I took it apart and there was nothing hindering the motion of the impeller. I have the driver turned all the way up and I can still see the individual impeller blades moving as it slowly rotates. I can hold it 1 inch from the water surface and not even see a ripple. This is the same unit that I sent back with the faulty driver. The driver appears to be functioning well (the green light is bright and doesn't flicker as before). I'm not sure why this unit is giving me so much trouble. I've had nothing but good experiences with the Tunzes before.

Jacobse, have you tried the prop assembly of another pump. My suspicion is the motor is fine but the magnet is spinning full speed and the prop is loose so it is not turning with the magnet.

I tried just twisting it to tighten the propeller- it worked fine all last night, but this morning I noticed that the click was gone so I suspect that it loosened up again.
