6060 placement in a 75g

I posted this on another forum and got limited response. After Roger confirmed that it was more pump than my 55 could handle, I have since decided to upgrade to a 75 gallon.

What are my placement options in a 75 gallon AGA Megaflow tank?

To eliminate sandstorm, what substrate should I consider?

At least one person recommended the magnet mount so that I could aim the flow up, is this the best option or at least a good one?

Peace

Hi kevin,

I generally prefer the 6000 but if you have to go 6060 you need to use aragonite sand of 2-3mm grain size minimum and you should be focusing on leathers and SPS- high flow corals. You will have a hard time with frogspawns and hammers with this type of flow so I wouldn't plan on keeping more than one in a more sheltered area.

Thanks Roger

Thanks Roger

As always, you are quick to respond. Thank you sir. I had planned for some lps and hadn't considered leathers. I got a used 6060 on the cheap. I'll probably stick with it and then start saving my sheckels for a 6000 and a controller. Is the magnet mount a necessity to avoid the sandstorm or will the 2-3mm prevent that?

Peace

Kevin

I think the coarser sand will prevent it. I don't find the included holder that hard to work with but then i have been using them for 6 years so I am used to it.
