6085 stream pump wants to run in reverse

I have a 6085 stream pump that wants to run in reverse everytime there is a power outage. The pump impeller will vibrate and chatter continously unless I place my hand over the output. Only then will it work correctly. Anyone know how to fix this?

How old is the pump? Is the propeller damaged in anyway? Is it possible that the pump is dirty? For it to correct direction the prop and magnet must be free to slide back and forth on the shaft, calcium sticking it to the shaft will cause this.

The pump is about 14 months old. No calcium deposits and the impeller spins fine.

Can it freely slide up and down the shaft? Do you see any broken edges on the propeller?

It slides up and down just fine. There is a bit of abrasion to one of the propeller sides.
