I am in the process of buying and setting up a 60g cube. The footprint of the stand is 25 x25". My question is about the sump. I'm not diy enough to build my own. Does anyone have any advice for a ready made sump that will fit the stand dimensions? By the way the skimmer size is 10.5"x 7.5"x 20" ...SRO 1000. A custom builder recommendation is welcome also. Thanks...

Go to your LFS and search for the biggest aquarium you can fit under the tank. Just make sure its deep enough to support your skimmer.

doesnt that put me back into the DIY situation again. I really don't want to have silicon in baffles and such. Can you extrapolate on how to set up as you have suggested?

by the way thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.

I have a 60 cube and I got the 20 gallon eshopps sump. The water level in the sump is about half so you get 10 gallons of water volume using this sump.

Thanks doughboy, do you have any pics of your sump setup? I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row before i do the build...

Here are some pictures of a friend of mine's custom sump, it holds three four inch filter socks, the skimmer section holds a octopus extreme 200 with a footprint of about 14"x 18". The sump was custom built by Advanced Acrylics. You can look for them on their ebay store and check out their pre-made sumps

You really don't have to be "DIY enough" to build a sump. Here's what I had when I first got into this hobby.

I bought a used 40 gallon Breeder. I went to lowes and bought some arcylic sheets. Cut them with a plexi scoring type tool, easy. Bought some aquarium safe silicone from lowes, bam I was good to go. No drilling of the sump nothing.

All you need is a submersible return pump and you're good.

On my current sump I have NO baffles, I do not get any microbubbles, and no filter sock on the overflow. It is a 48" tank, but it works great.

I promise you its REALLY not that hard.

Thanks for all the info guys... i'm looking to expand my total water capacity to at least 85g. I hit up dave at nextreef to see what he can come up with. We'll go from there. As all my other tanks, this may turn into a DIY. I was trying to stay way from that but, as this hobby always is ... it may be hard to do.... Any pointers, advice, experience is appreciate....

here is what the build will consist of as of now:
-Glasscages rimless 60g cube
-Reef octo nwb 150 skimmer
-AI Sol LED module 2/1 white
-Eheim 1262 return pump
-2x Vortech mp10es powerheads
- SUMP???? still working that one out....
-Doser to be added in future depending on sump footprint

Let me know what you think?
