60g cube tank build

no bowing that I can measure when tested.

on a side note, I stained the cabinet tonight and plan for poly tomorrow. pics to follow tomorrow.

I personally will NEVER put a bta in a tank of mine unless the tank is dedicated to that BTA. I had too many problems with my RBTA spliting in my 75 and stinging everything. pretty to look at but I honestly enjoy my sps more. Ive seen very nice tanks that contain many BTAs with many clowns and it looks really nice...just not my thing. If I were ever to set up a second tank besides a reef, it would definitely be for sea horses. I find them facinating.

If you could possibly keep the bta on a seperate rock island you may be able to get away with it. 2ft isnt tiny however, it doesnt leave alot of room for error with coral placement.

update on the stand. ive stained and done 2 coats of poly. 3rd will be soon. sorry for the delay on pics

it didnt come out perfect but it will do. more pics to follow with progress. ty for looking

ps- on a side note, I received my ballast, bulb, and resevior tanks so things are coming together.

That stand is coming along great. Looks really nice.

What we need now is some plumbing work and equipment shots.

Also, are you going to be sticking a hole in the back of that stand? How are you going to get all you "series of tubes" in there?

I will be cutting a hole in the back of the stand for the plumbing. I didnt know where the pipes are going to hit the back so I waited till I knew.

equipment shots will be coming soon.

Question going out to all-

I was planning on putting this centered on my long wall in my living room however I just installed a sanyo split system A/C unit directly over the area I wanted to put my tank. DO you think that the a/c will be too much over the tank? or do you think it will actually help with keeping the temp regulated?

Its always easier to heat a tank than cool it.

The heat from the pendant and the cool from the A/C will be locked in epic battle.

i guess either way the a/c is going to drive down the temp and make the heater work. anyone else like to weight in?

finished the poly and hung the door. getting closer, baby steps.

careful the ac unit wont dribble on the hood or lights.

I have an ac above my tank (in thailand) it pulls hot air out of the room so its good, I dont run a heater and also have a separate chiller.

I may have missed it, but was there a reason for painting the inside of the stand white?

I am going to paint my stand this weekend and am curious as to if there is an advantage I am unaware of.

so i could see debris that falls down...black hides everything. i used rustoleum high gloss enamel paint and it seals the wood nicely just in case of spills. I know some say that painting canopys white is better because white reflects light better but that isnt the reason I used it.

actually the AC unit has a drain line that is gravity drained outside.

so you dont think the AC will be a problem with tank temp? Im guessing that your climate is very hot if you dont impliment heaters...my climate is seasonal heat with relatively cold winters so Im planning on having a pair of heaters insump.

anyone else have an AC unit very close to your tank?

I have a similar situation, the biggest problem in my case is the evaporation the AC causes blowing accross the tank. No problems with temp in the tank.

Update:

Ive been busy over this past week. Cut in my RO unit and setup the water station, hung the lumenbright, plumbed the tank and then finally the did the transfer.

well heres the results.
