6100.10 problem

Roger,

My 6100 started sounding it's alarm. I took the pump out and cleaned thoroughly, soaking in vinegar and then removing impeller and the boot at the bottom to remove any calcium deposits. I put the pump back together and when I plug it back in the alarm still sounds. It goes away when I manually start the impeller by twisting it, but the impeller quits rotating after about five seconds and the alarm sounds. Any Ideas? The pump is about 15 months old.

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Edit: I should note that there is no visible (or to the touch) scoring on the impeller and the sleeve feels smooth to the touch. Boot also looked good as did the gasket beneath it.

Do you have the newer 6100.70 drive unit or the older 6100.60? Is it the original drive unit or did you replace it at some point?

That is the driver, the drive unit is the propeller assembly, up until about summer 2006 we used part 6100.60, it had brake shoes, part 6100.70 replaced that and has no brake shoes. If you have 6100.60 there may be a mechanical cause, 6100.70 would almost definitely be electrical. In the cleaning thread the first set of photos is for 6100.60, the second set is for 6100.70, you can also look them up on tunze.com.

As long as it is clean and not stuck to the upper bearing and the magnet has no obvious cracks I would suspect something is electrically wrong. Send it in:

Thanks Roger. I'll send it in the next couple of days. Do you want me to send the driver and power supply? Sorry it's taken me so long to post this.
