6100 locked up!

I came home from work today and one of my new 6100's was in alarm. I pulled the impeller out and found a bulge in the plastic where the magnet goes in.
Could this happen to the second new pump? Is there any way to check and see if it is defective?

It is defective, this was a potential problem with pumps made in April/June but has been solved by changing the plastic material. PM me an address and I can send a new motor.
