6100's for LPS tank ??

I want to jump into the whole tunze thing for my reef. It is a starfire that measures 54"T x 30"W x 24"T . I will have it stocked with 90% LPS corals ( a basketball size frogspawn, hammer, elegance, all of those are that huge) , also lobos, open brains, scolys. Knowing these corals don't need the blasting flow that LPS like, I'm having a tough time deciding on what to get. I have a 1" sandbed. I want to incorporate a wavebox into this for sure, so lets throw that in the picture. Given my tank measurements, type of corals I have, and wanting a wavebox also, what tunze stream combo should I get ? I want to also mention that my return pump is a 1100 gph blueline that is going to a 1" seaswirl. I would like to order these today, so if as many people can chime in on their input that would be great.... I know I won't be steered wrong.

I say, save your money and do 6000's. You could actually just get away with the wavebox for LPS using the seaswirl.

I'm sure Roger will steer you in the right direction when he replies

I like Bret's ideas. I would go with either a wavebox and a 6000 or a wavebox and a seaswirl 1" with about 1000gph. Both would be perfect. This flow would be gentle and the best suited for the corals you listed. The 6000 ould be more flow and some areas of the flow may be unsuitable for some of the longer flowing polyp corals but the tank is large enough that it can be made to work.

I would donate that crap to BP's tank, suck out the sand, and get the streams! :lolspin: :lol:

I would like to see the motion in the tank that the streams provide........not just a bunch of colored sticks that don't move.
