6101 that won't start anymore

Hi, I have a 6101 that I bought last summer that I took out to clean the impeller because of calcium build up. Cleaned impeller spins easliy and freely by hand but when I plug it in to start it, the impeller twitches a few times and doesn't spin at all, then stops moving completely. It will repeat the same action again a few seconds later over and over again but no meaningfull rotation. I tried other working 6101 on the same power supply and they work fine. Same problem with different power supplies on this particular pump. Anything else to try or is it a bad pump?

I have been having the same problem with one of my 6101's as well, and came looking for some help. The pump will not run fully, only twitch every few seconds. It will run if I leave it off for a while and then restart it, but eventually it stops running and goes back to the occasional twitching.

I have been thinking that it may be related to the constant stop and start of my 7094, so I've had it disconnected from the controller and it has been running fully for a week.

I just connected the pump back to the controller about an hour ago and it is running nicely, stoping and starting, pulsing, etc. Past experience tells me that this will not last though, and that it will probably stop running again in a few hours or few days.

I am sorry I don't have an answer, but maybe Roger can help us.

There are a few possible causes. If it is strictly related to use on the controller I might try another controller cable. What Herkey describes sounds like a bad pump. If you send it to me we will replace it.

Roger,

I am convinced now that it has nothing to do with the controller. I've used different combinations of cables and channels and I just replaced my old 7094 for a 7095. The pump still behaves the same...sometimes it works and sometimes it just twitches and puts out small bursts.

I have a second pump that you have looked at before and it has stopped completely. I'll send them both to you later this week.

Herky, I appologize for hijacking your thread.
