6105 clicking noise on start up.

I have a couple 6105 powerheads that click when they start up. Is this normal or do I need to replace a bushing of some kind?

There should be a small disc at the bottom of the shaft, underneath the impeller. These sometimes fall out when cleaning the pumps. Check to make sure they're in place.

If you have the 6105 model where the shaft and impeller come out together as one assembly, then also make sure the blue bushings on the ends of the shaft are in place and undamaged.

Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there.

Just to expand on this.

A 6105 made prior to July 2010 lacks the 3005.740 anti attenuation disk, it instead used 6065.792. 3005.740 will reduce the clicking noise to some extent. A Tunze 7092 or 7096 in wavemode would further reduce the noise in off and on cycles due to the ramp speed function where the speed is accelerated form 0-10% over a fraction of a second before jumping to full power. Some clicking will generally be normal and not harm the pump, there are things that can reduce it.
