6105 crackling noises

Most likely their is some air trapped in the pump or it is close to the surface and drawing in air. If it was just moved or just installed as long as it is not to close to the surface or angled down, the air should escape within a few days and the noise should go away.

Been running for three months now, 3/4 the way down a 30" tall tank. They are pointed slightly upwards...

Did it do this all of that time or is this recent? I might try assembling it under water after disassembling and rinsing it.

Is it possible the disk at the bottom is damaged or loose in the pump? Part 3005.740, this sits at the bottom of the shaft.

So I took them apart for my maintenance again and noticed the pump shaft is threaded (is that normal?). Also found black gunk inside. No calcium deposits.

Both pumps are making very funny noises.

The shaft should not be threaded, it should be smooth, this would indicate to me something like some sand got caught between the shaft and propeller and scored the shaft and ground the plastic (black gunk). Typically if you replace the propeller and the metal shaft is not overly rough, that should solve the noise.

Where do I find those parts?

They weren't threaded last time I cleaned them and still made the same ticking/clicking sound (if not slightly less loud).

You can order any part on Tunze.com, the shaft may have some wobble if pushed firmly, but should not move very much and should not be removed.
