6105 problem

I have a pair of 6105s and a 7096 controller that I bought almost 2 years ago and I've been having trouble with one for the past several months. A while back I noticed that one of the pumps would click once in a while, I watched it and saw that it would stop for a split second and start right back up. I took it out and cleaned it and then it seemed to run fine. A few weeks later it would start doing the same thing, if I left it alone it would get worse and worse until it stopped completely. Normally when it stops, the impeller spins freely when I turn it by hand.
There WAS one time a few months ago when it stopped and the impeller was stuck on the shaft and I had a hard time getting it off, but I'd been having the problem for some time before that happened.
I gave the pump a vinegar bath about 3 weeks ago and it's been sputtering every 30-45 seconds on average for the past few days. I tried swapping power supplies but the pump still acts up. I plugged the pumps into my Reefkeeper Elite with an APC to make sure the 7096 wasn't bad, but it still has the same problem.
I'm just about at my wits' end with this pump. Please let me know if there's anything else I can try because I'd like to get this pump working right while it's still under warranty.

If they are the newer type from 2012-present where the shaft is fixed in the pump, make sure the shaft is not loose in the pump. The drive unit should be free to spin and slide back and forth on the shaft. If they are the older type with removable shaft, the same applies but the shaft has two blue end bushings and is removable, in either case, the drive magnet and prop should be seperated and soaked so the shaft and drive magnet are very clean. If they seize up as you described, they usually start acting up about 4 weeks before when they are just starting to lock up.

Thanks for the reply Roger.
This is the newer type pump, the shaft is not loose and the drive unit spins freely and slides on and off freely. I just soaked them in vinegar and water about 3 weeks ago and they were very clean, I also ran a drill bit through the drive unit (the bit was the same size as the hole) after it seized to make sure it was clean. This has been happening for months; I clean it and it starts acting up within a few weeks. Is it common for the pumps to start acting up only a few weeks after being cleaned? My other pump has the older style drive unit and it hasn't given me any trouble.

Hmm, sorry I replied to your PM without seeing this. I don't have an answer but given this info would lean toward an issue with the motor and think it may be best to send it in.
