6105 replacement impellar - question for Tunze

I have a newer 6105 that quit working today. I could see the impellar twitching, so I disassembled to investigate.

Upon initial inspection, it look like I was missing a rod that connects the front of the impellar into the front of the powerhead cover.

Comparing it to my other 6105, it looks to be missing that piece.

After researching here and online, some 6105s the impellar goes into this front piece/grille, but some styles don't (the shaft is fixed into the motor block.)

So I ordered a 6105.700 from Premium Aquatics.

After reading some more about the shaft being fixed to the motor block, I noticed my shaft end was knurled (is this the right word??) so I am thinking it just came out of the motor block. I pushed it back in, but its not hard to pull out. Anyway, I pushed it in as far as it would go, reassembled pump, and it is working for now.

So, I have 2 6105s. I is less than a year old from Premium Aquatics. The other was bought used and wasn't supposed to be that old.

--Which has the shaft that doesn't go all the way from the motor to the front grille? (newer or older)

--And which has the knurled end like mine (newer or older?)

--Is the 6105.700 kit I bought going to be useful? Or do I need a new knurled shaft?

Sorry to be such a long post! Need advice!
