6201 and 6101 drivers - changing the "performance"

There's a small, white dial on the driver. The manual says that this dial can be adjust to "change the performance of the pump" - those are the exact words from the manual

I have a few questions about this:

1) What "performance" is being adjusted?
2) Does Tunze preset the dial at a certain "performance level"?
3) Do I turn the dial clockwise or counterclockwise to increase performance?

Are you refering to the 6000, 6100, 6200? these models had a driver with a potenimeter (white dial). The performance that is being changed is the speed or flow. Believe it is set to full or 100% at factory which is where you want it if using any controller. And for number 3, clockwise from memory

The 6101/6201 do not have a silver driver box and the voltage is selectable on the power supply, creating similar results

Hi Shawn, Thanks for getting back to me. I think I used the wrong term when I said "driver". It's the little black, plastic box that is used to connect the power supply to the Stream itself. There is a white dial on this little box.

I am referring to the newer 6101 and 6201.

the diagram I'm referring to is on pages 30-31 of the manual. It is noted as #5 in the diagram.

Well I feel about silly right now, I admit I have never used a newer style controllable other than my 6055s hands on and never realized it was there as I assumed they were the same. It provides the same effect that the dial on the older ones did. On the 6101 the voltage on the PSU set to 15 mimics a 6000 top and low speed and the voltage set to 24v mimics appox a 6100 top and low speeds thresholds when using the dial or a controller. the dial allows you to set the top speed anywhere between. Though the same rule woudl apply when on a controller as to having it to 100% otherwise there is a risk of running the pump too slowly.

Shawn, thanks again for your quick reply. I'm still *a bit* confused. I have both the 6201s and 6101, and obviously want to make sure I'm running them at full speed.

If I understand you correctly, as long as my Streams are connected to my 7095, and I set it the max flow at 100%, they will run at 100% regardless of where I have that white dial turned to?

Or, do I also need to turn that dial to its own 100% setting? (turning it clockwise)

If you set them to max flow using the dial (the 6101s need to be at 24v on the PSU to be true max) they should be running at max flow when the 7095 is reading 100%. If you have the dial turned down it will then turn down max flow the pump can create even when the 7095 says 100%. Basically like the older pumps I believe the dial on on the pump would "override" the multicontroller so to speak.

If the dial on the pump is set to say 80% flow. And the 7095 says 100% the pump will really be doing 80%. And say then the 7095s low is set to the min of 30% the pump would really be running at like 24% based on my quick math which might not be truely right.

Hey Shawn, thanks for the explanation. I understand it now. I need to go home and check my white dial. I'll turn them clockwise til I can't turn them anymore! Want to make sure the 100% on the 7095 is really running at 100%

Edit: Would it be possible to confirm if the dial should be turned clockwise? I looked at the manual again, and it looks like the arrow is going counterclockwise

I honestly do not know on the new if clockwise is right I admit and I am at my reg job and not the shop(yes working hard lol) and dont have a pump nearby. On the pump it should have a arrow or rainbow to show which way from low to high. If worse comes to worse and no one confirms and dont want to wait for Roger tomorrow you could always try the "hand" test and you should be able to feel the difference.

Shawn, there is an arrow on the dial, but it points straight, not left or right! lol. So I did the hand test, and you're right. Turning it clockwise maximizes the power.
