6201 screen mod for more flow

Is it true I can mod my intake for more flow? I've read that if I remove the "X" on the intake, I'll get stronger flow. If I remove every 3rd slat, I'll get broader flow.

Is this true? How close will flow be to the 6301?

You wouldn't get broader flow and you would only get more flow compared to a 6201 with a clogged screen. I think at most you would gain a couple hundred gallons an hour.
