6205 Impeller Question

Hi Roger,

i recently received the little stash of spare parts for my 6205 Streams (thank you for the fast shipping on that by the way!).

I have a question on the 6205 impeller unit I received. I notice that the unit doesn't have the dark blue attenuation bumper, and the drive bushing is smaller than the bushing currently in my 6205s. The bushing also seems to be fixed to the shaft.

Is this a normal configuration for a late-run 6205? My pumps are a little bit older, I'd guess around 3.5 years or so. The new impeller will still run OK in my older 6205 if I have to put it into service, correct?

Thanks!

The blue end bushings and the disk should be removable though they may be a tight fit. It should have included the blue antiattenuation disk as well. If you PM me I can send that part.

Roger,

I'll try pulling the drive bushing off, oh so gently, in the next couple of days.

I really do appreciate your offer to send the attenuation disk, but I hate to trouble you for such a small part, I have 2-3 attenuation disks in my parts bin already.

I have another question for you though...what started all this is that I found one of my 6205s seized. When I took it apart I found the drive bushing melted and fused to the impeller. I cleaned up the impeller and replaced the drive bushing.

Do you think this thing got too hot because I haven't been diligent about keeping the two little slots in the drive bushing clean?

I have seen this a few times and don't have a firm answer as to the cause, my suspicion has been that sand or some grit fused the pieces at least temporarily and led to a lot of friction and heat.

Next time you order something feel free to hit me up to include a 3005.740.
