6255 release date?

garbled

I keep seeing that the 6255 will be released "at the end of this month". Is there an actual release date in the US set for the 6255?

I have a 10x3x4 (3ft high) SPS tank, and was thinking of buying 4 6255's. Should I go with a pair of masterstreams instead? Are masterstreams controllable?

Unfortunately releases dates are subject to change, while the 6255 is essentially ready to go, there are small details such as how tightly the front housing secures that have delayed production. They should be available worldwide in about 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately delivery times for the Master Stream are about the same due to a backlog of orders. You really could go either way, but the 6255's will be more compact and discrete. The Master Streams are controllable, they would have all the same features as the 6255 in that regard.

My tank is acrylic, 1.25" thick on the sides.. Will the 6255 magnets be able to deal with that? I've heard the masterstream magnets are a bit beefier.

6255 magnet is for up to 1"

The optional MasterStream magnet mount which is quite large is for up to 1 1/8" glass. Just keep in mind that a Master Stream is a big pump and personally I would see them as more appropriate for tanks about double the size of yours primarily because of the footprint they take up.

We don't have any magnets for material over these thicknesses for the respective models. An optional rail mount is available for 6255 and a Master Stream will mount to a 1" pipe.

Go to amazingmagnets.com and grab a big magnet and use it on the outside of the glass. It will hold, those magnets really are... amazing.

Magnet inside overflow

Magnet inside overflow

Hi Roger,
I am planning my new 68"x40"x26" SPS tank with an external coast-to-coast beananimal overflow alongside the back glass.
I am thinking to 2X6255 on the back corners pointing to middle front glass.
Do you think will be sufficient?
Overflow will be close to a wall so I am planning to put the outside magnets inside the beananimal overflow.
Do you think is it possible?

I think it may be too much, I might consider instead the 6155, if you use the 6255 they will probably need to be turned down to 70% maximum. The magnets can go on the overflow, both halves are waterproof.
