One of my 6305 pumps has acquired an unfriendly behavior pattern; it turns on, runs for a couple minutes then turns off. If I unlug it and wait a while it will usually repeat this behavior (or not); depends on the mood it is in. I swapped it out with another one (using the same power supply) and the new one works correctly so I think I've rules out power. I've cleared it thoroughly with no correction.

Any ideas?

This would normally mean the power supply is over heating and shut down. The most common cause would be the drive unit is not freely spinning on the shaft, some sand or calcium has built up between the shaft and drive unit. On the other hand, the overheat protection on the power supplies is fairly primitive, a temp probe is glued to the inside of the casing and if this breaks free and moves closer to the board or near a hotter component it could also cause this problem. I would check the drive unit first though.

I have exchanged power supplies with another (working) unit with no differences. I have also completely dissassembled the pump and had it soak in vinegar for 24 hours and no change. Sometimes it runs for 2 seconds, sometimes 5 minutes.

It sounds like there is some internal defect of the pump causing it to draw more current than the power supply can deliver, send the motor and we will replace it.
