Hello all. This is my first post on reef central after being a long time aquarium advice member. I was wondering people thoughts on this stock list for my currently cycling 65g build

-2x melanurus wrasse (male/female)
-1x Falco Dwarf Hawkfish
-1x Starry or Lawnmower Blenny
-1x Flame or Potters Angel
-1x Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse
-1x Midas blenny

The Melunarus wrasse pair and Midas blenny are definite. The rest are up for change/debate
I only want invert safe reef safe fish. preferably something with good color and personality. I want to stay away from chromis as they die to easy and anthias because they can be difficult to get to eat.

Melanurus are hit or miss with inverts. I know some people that have never had issues with them, and some people that got some from the same shipment that had their snails and shrimp wiped out almost immediately when they added the melanurus to their tank.

Most hawkfish are shrimpeaters too. You may be safe with a dwarf, but no guarantees there either...

Good on ya for posting up for opinions before purchasing...

Best of luck, and keep us posted...

+1 and def get the Midas blenny! I just got one yesterday and it's Awesome! All ready my favorite fish.

IME most retail size melanurus wrasses and hawkfish are fine with inverts. Once they get larger they may go picking at small inverts like hermits, snails, and small shrimp, but are usually pretty safe with cleaner and blood shrimp that are in the tank before them.

I'd be very careful. I've seen a Candy Hog coexist with Shrimp for months then suddenly 1 day he's ripping them apart. This Candy is a bastard in general though. Also with those Wrasses, they can just rip hermits apart if the mood strikes them. I wouldn't put an Angel into an SPS tank, why take the risk?

Having experience with 30+ melanurus over the years in various tanks I would stand by my statements on their safety with motile inverts.

As far as the angels go the species you mentioned flames are mostly safe and potters can be a little sensetive. In an sps dominant tank they generally are pretty safe, corals and inverts on their diet are zoas, sponges, clams, and fleshy lps. Sps they dont bother.

Ok so this is where I'm at for now as a definite

Melunarus wrasse pair
Midas blenny
Flame angel

I'm not sure if the solon wrasse will coexist with the Melunarus?
Also what are some other good options for mid size fish that are colorfull and peacefu

Any thoughts on the lawnmower/starry blennie with the Midas?
